Question about 2000 Honda Civic

1 Answer

98 honda civic hx

I have a 98 hx, mileage about 180000. My problem is that while driving it will lag in power a random times. It happens ussually in 4th or 5th gear and I am usually between 2500 and 3500 rpm's I thing.
I have replaced the spark plugs and wire recently as well as the fuel filter.

Lately the tac has been going nuts. It used to just skip up, but lately it's been falling abruptly to almost 0 before jumping back up, but there's a lag/lurch even at highway speeds (70 to 80 mph). I initially thought the tac was going (the car has 183,500 miles on it), but this seems to be more power related. I'm afraid it's much more serious than just a tac issue. I did just get a new battery and when they installed it they initially didn't tighten it enough, so I went back and had to get a new clamp.

1998 Honda Civic Ex

Its possible the radiator blew from too much pressure, either caused by a faulty radiator cap, or a leaking head gasket.
I would start with figuring out if it was too much pressure and why.

98 Honda Civic HX sputters when accelerating. Feels bogged down and lacking power.

Time for the dealer to take a look. You need special skill and special tools to diagnose this not to mention years of experience with electronic engine control systems.

My right headlight on my 99 hx civic 2 door only works when it is on high beams. Is this a Wiring problem or a fuse?

Probably a lamp. You can test the connector with a volt meter. If it has power then replace the lamp. If you just put in a lamp make sure you didnt bend the lamps prong over, it happens more than you think.

My honda civic 98 hx m4va transmition type, the trans drives fine exept when gearing up I can't feel when shifting and rpms goes up and down,I replace the transmition and still doing the same, also when...

I have a 1998 Civic HX 2DR as well and mine also takes a moment to engage when you press the gas. I don't know if this is normal or not? I just bought the car and I need to replace the trans fluid only because I don’t know if there is Honda oil or another brand in it. The CVT transmissions only can use Honda's CVT oil. There is a recommend alternative oil but based on the manual it’s only for temporary use until you can replace it with the Honda oil otherwise it will cause damage to the transmission over time.

Front bumper

To remove the bumper on a honda civic;

1. open your hood and unscrew 3 screws ( some have plastic catchers).
2. there is another bolt above your front tyre, you have to unbolt that..(right above the tire, by your mudguard or whatever they call that plastic piece to stop mud or water to get in contact with wires on the door.)
3. same on the other size...
4. you are good to go then...good luck..
