Question about Volkswagen Beetle
I'm not sure if that has the "high throttle switch". Usually, a switch that performs when the throttle lever goes back a specific distance. Should you have one, that would probably be the problem. Easy fix.

The missing while accelerating is likely due to ignition coils and/or spark plugs going bad. The missing while in park is a normal thing. The car has a rev limiter that will not allow the engine to rev to higher than 3000 RPM while in park.

Ignition coils can cause these problems, and a code scanner can tell you which one or more that are bad. If there are more than one that's bad its cheaper to buy a set.
