How to check trans.fluid on standard .cant find dip stick.

checking the gear oil on the Manual transmission requires you to get under the car, and about 1/2 to 3/4 way up the side of the transmission, there is an about 1/2" ***** in plug. remove the plug, and stick your finger in the hole. the gear oil should be up to the bottom of that hole to be full. most manual trans use 90 weight gear oil.

Transmition add gear oil refilling

Automatic? Through the hole where you check the trans fluid (dip stick). Warning: DO NOT OVERFILL!!! Overfill will likely result in damage to the trans and possibly a fire when the oil over heats and runs out of the dip stick hole and falls onto the hot motor.

Manual? There is a hole on the side of the box. Hole is plugged with a 1/2" pipe plug or similar. You will have to pump the 80- or 120 weight oil in as the hole is high on the box and will not allow you top put the container high enough to allow gravitity to assist you with this.

Manual transmissions rarely need oil ... remove the plug and put your finger into the hole. When you take your finger out ... there should be oil on it.

Cant find where to add trans fluid on 97 jetta 5 speed

A standard 5 speed does not have a dip-stick for the trans. You have to get it from underneath the car. There will be 2 fairly large plugs, one on the bottom of the trans and one about 1/4 of the way up the side. The bottom one is to drain it, the top one is to check/fill it. You remove the plug with a 1/2 inch drive rachet(no socket) The fluid should be able to be felt or maybe run out a little when you stick your finger into the hole. Make sure you use what ever the manufactorer recomends for fluid. Some standards use 90w gear oil, some use ATF fluid. If you use the wrong type, you can mess up your trans.

If your thinking that your needing fluid because the trans is slipping, you are wrong, you need to replace your clutch.

How do you check the tran" fluid on a 2004 verona

If you have the tranny dipstick, then run car in park, let warm up a little and then check the dipstick.
Not all models have dipsticks. Especially on the foreign cars. On many of the foreign cars, you have to raise/jack the car up, then look on tranny, there will be an upper and a lower plug, remove the upper plug, stick your finger in the hole; The fluid level should be at top of the hole and you should be able to feel it with your finger. If you cant, then get a bottle of fluid recommended for you car, put a tip cap on it, attach a rubber hose to the tip and fill it to top of the hole.

Need to know how to check trans fluid in a 1998 old cutlas. Found add hole but no specs. Cant see fluid, but dont want to over fill ?

there is a special tool for checking the fluid, in order to get a proper level check the trans fluid must be very hot, at least 180 F, to check it without the guage tool stick your finger in the hole, you should just be able to touch the fluid when your 1st knuckle is at the lip of the fill hole.

How do i check the transmission fluid on my 04 lancer manual?

I gather you are saying you have a manual trans? Okay! you have a plug somewhere on the transmission about half way fron the bottom to the top.It could be square six sided or a large inverted plug of the same. Remove this plug stick your finger in the hole, you should get some fluid on your finger if it is full.

Cant find transmission dip stick 1999 isuzu tropper

The 4L30E transmission is a "sealed" unit and as such does not have a dipstick. The only way to check your fluid level is to use the "higher" of the two drain holes on the bottom of the pan. You *must* do this while the engine is hot and running, otherwise all the fluid will have drained to the pan and will come out of the top hole all over you. When hot, the fluid should come up to the top hole. Stick a finger in, if you can't feel fluid, use a syphon or hand pump to shoot some up into it. I would strongly suggest dropping the pan and replacing the filter if you have over 100k miles. DO NOT have this trans flushed at a shop as the small galleries are prone to jamming with the gunk the flush will free up, and will cause the trans to fail.

How do i add trans oil to a '96 jeep cherokee?

Assuming its automatic, filler is on the right side passenger firewall (fills through dipstick tube) Make sure you check level with vehicle running and warm. Add less than you think you need. Though you can overfill just a bit, going too far will cause fluid to be frothed up by internal components and give you big trouble. If stick, there is a plug on the side of the unit. Check level with your finger. If you can touch it without "sticking your arm inside", it's good. Check with vehicle on level ground (either trans) Stick fluid is added through same hole.
