Question about 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab

Check engine light on and off

In my 97 Dodge Ram 1500, the check engine light comes on, and goes off. I checked the oil level, which is fine, but the engine is running really rough. When accelerated over 35mph, the check engine light blinks. Do you have any possible solutions?

Have a tune up done on your vehicle. it will need plugs wires. also you may want to take your vehicle up to a auto parts store and have them connect there diagnostic machine to it and see if it pulls any codes.

If you paid someone to rebuild the engine, you need to go back for warranty work. If you did the work, you need to put on mechanical gauge, and find out if the pressures is low or if your sending unit is not accurate.

I have a 1994 dodge ram 1500 318 engine that suddenly started running rough as of yesterday and check engine light comes on?

I would start with the throd body and Mass Air Flow system for build up, do not listen to anyone who tells you that low grade gasoline is ok for you to use, your engine will not perform well on it and will cause a sticky residue on the throd body and MAF sensor. Also it is critical that you keep your truck with a clean air filter and service with oil changes and spark plugs as needed, follow dodge reccomendations, I learned the hard way 1994 Dodge Ram PU 1500 Quad and 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 PU both were the same way, they both had trouble with AC and Radiators as well.

hope this helps

There is a brake switch on the pedal about half way up. check this and see if you have power coming out when depressed. If you do then the problem lies in the turn signal switch, Some times it's a loose wire.

Gauges work fine when engine's started, then oil gauge falls below zero and warning light comes on saying "Check gauges," so I check the oil and transmission fluid levels and these are fine but...

start by checking the ground strap to the engine, and engine to body. The oil pressure sender unit may be bad. You may have to hook up an oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sender port to verify proper oil pressure. Senders are cheap- I would just replace it and go from there.

Well Check your oil preshure with a proper gauge!
may have not sufisiant oil preshuire!!! or it might just be a faulty preshure senser!
Better that than defective oil pump! use caution as insefitient oil preshure will lead to ireprable engine dammage!!!!!

Have a good one .Bruce.

You need to hook up a reader to it to extract the code to tell you what's up. Sometimes the engine light will come on for other reasons too like if your oil level is low, but you should be able to see that in the gauges...

Oil pressure fluctuating

The sensor could be failing to read the lower pressure when the engine RPM slows down. Or the pump could be failing. I would replace the sensor and see if that doesn't correct the problem
