My 2000 Lasaber was cold after sitting a day. I went to crank it and engine turned over fine. It then backfired under the hood almost like thur a carburator does. Next turn key to crank and nothing. All lights come on, battery has plenty power but starter does nothing. What could be the problem? Even tried to jump, with all the power no starter even attempting to click.

Check to see if your security light is staying on.i believe you have a problem with the factory theft detterent it will disable the starter. if light stays on this is problem. will need to replace ign lock cylinder

It could be the light switch or the turn signal switch. All the exterior lights run threw the turn signal switch.

Car will not start, everything working inside, lights etc but will not turn on

your key is probably worn and the ignition cannot read it, therefor throws it into the passlock theft mode. get a new key and reset the passlock with your new keyby following the instructions in your manual.

It doesn't sound like an ignition module or crankshaft sensor because normally problems with either would result in a no start condition. My first thought is a loose or dirty connection in the wiring that causes an intermittent lack of fuel or ignition.

My 2000 lesabre will start sometimes and wont sometimes. for the last wk it wont start. it has power lights work everything just wont crank whats wrong with it. jf1

Hello: Make sure the battery cables are clean No corrosion, and tight. If the security light is not flashing when you try to start it, the have a helper hold the ignition switch in the start position and you go under the car and hit the starter (not to hard) near the end that goes into the engine, If it starts then you need a starter. If the security light flashes while trying to start you have a pass key problem
