Question about 1991 Dodge Ram 150

1 Answer

1985 dodge ram 150 6 clynder

It just had a tune up and seemed to be running better than ever. I was driving down the hwy when it back fired 2 times and shut down. When I got out to examine the engine the radiator fluid was fine the oil was still right and could find no leaks anywhere. I did notice that it had over heated. I thought once it cooled down it would start back up. It has never started since. It will crank but not start. What can I do to get it started now. dan

First thing, check your rotor button. Sometimes the tip breaks on them, going to the side and won't allow it to start. If that's ok, check your timing chain. Good luck.

I have a 1985 Dodge 150 ram pickup with automatic transmission when driving down the road in 3 gear it acts like its trying to down shift or even like its trying to lock up

First make sure you dont have an engine problem, such as a blocked exhaust or fuel filter, if engine performance is good ck your fluid condition fluid should be red, if real dark or burnt, that would indicate an internal transmission problem requiring it to be removed an rebuilt

1985 dodge ramcharger, carburetor issues

Sounds like a problem I had with my '85 Dodge D150 Ram Prospector. In my case, the automatic choke was broken and it was starved for air during acceleration because the choke was always closed. It ran fine at idle or very slow acceleration. I wired the choke open and it runs much better, although it is much more difficult to start as the fuel mix is lean due to the extra air. Once it gets warmed up, though, it runs fine. I hear that the barrel carb on mine often has problems.

It is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 with 1-3-5-7 on the drivers side front to back, 2-4-6-8 on the pass side and the dist turns clockwise.
I wish I still had my Chilton's manual, I would scan a picture for you.

If this helps, please rate me.
Thanks,
