My electric cooling fan will not come on; 2000 Ford Escort Sedan. I have checked the fan itself and it works fine. I have checked all the fuses and they are okay. However, the cooling fan will still not turn on so it overheats. What else might be the problem?

All ZX2 transmissions will work no matter what year. If you are trying to use a sedan transmission, it is possible with some modification. The sedan transmission has one threaded hole for the starter that will need to be drilled out. There are, I think, three bolt holes for the bell housing that won't line up but that isn't a problem. Otherwise, it fits just fine. The gearing is taller in the sedan and you'll notice the car won't accelerate as fast but your gas mileage should get better.
Feel with your hand the large pipe going into the fire wall,in the car cabin area, see if they are getting cold,if so,then the temp door actuator motor in the dash,on the blower box is not working, the dash will have to be removed to repair the problem.
check the fuses there s also fuses in the engine bay, also check the wiring to the fan,the wires lead back to the main loom so if you are trying to trace the wire back its easier to take this out to check it but make a note of what connects to what.
Did you check the parts before replacement? Check if there is power supply to the fan when engine is hot and the fan should start. Also check the temperature sensor or the automatic fan switch located below the radiator, it may be faulty.
You "passenger" fuse box, is located on the drivers side of the vehicle, under the dash. You "engine" fuse box is located under the hood, on the drivers side of the vehicle.
Sounds like either you are low on coolant or the cooling fan isn't working. With engine cool remove radiator cap and check coolant level, top off if necessary. If full start engine and turn on A/C full blast, full cold the cooling fan should come on almost instantly, unless there are two individual cooling fans in which case only one may turn on. If no fans turn on check all fuses whether related to fan or not. If all fuses fine try swapping relays around, they are usually all the same size/style. If fan still doen't work you have either an open positve or ground side of the circuit, Which will require wiring schematics and a multimeter. If coolant full and fan/s turn on and engine still overheats you'll need a new thermostat installed.
