I had replaced the plugs and wires and car was still slugish. I then replaced the battery because it was over 5 years old. After replacing the battery, the slugish engine was now running much better.showing little signs of slugish performance. Now, only when the engine is cold does it show slugish running but at a minimal level. what could be causing the engine to run minimaly slugish when it is cold?

Many things can effect an engine during the cold.

I'd start by doing other basic tune up replacements. Such as an Air Filter, PCV valve, Fuel Filter, Oil Change. All things things keep an engine healthy.

Another thing to try is a bottle off fuel system cleaner. I recommend such brands as prestone, lucas oils, or STP. These will help eliminate deposits on the fuel system and help keep the fuel and air moving.

Did you replace the plugs with pregapped plugs? If your plugs aren't gapped right this could happen as well.

Hope these ideas help you out bud!

How to change plugs and wires in 93 chevy g20 van 8cyl 5.0 liters

I replace plugs and wires one at a time, That way you don't lose track of which spark plug wire goes where. If your working under the vehicle, there are safety issues, safety is your responsibility. I hope you can read that? Working through the wheel wells may be your best bet. If you see a better way, use your best judgement. Of course you'll need proper tools.

Just wanted to know the size of the engine in a 2001 chevy cavalier

it's either a 2.2 liter or 2.4 liter 4 cylinder (if the spark plug wires are on the side of the engine it's the 2.2, if on top it's the 2.4 -- 2.2 will also say 2200 on top of part of the air intake)

I cant figure out the right order of the plug

Firing Order on 2.2 liter: 1-3-4-2
Cylinder number: 1-2-3-4 from passenger to driver's side
From the coil from fire wall to radiator: #1 coil 4-1 #2 coil 3-2 Good luck and this should help you get your car running 100% again.

1993 chevy cavalier 2.2l 4 c. sparks and wire order

it fires 1-3-4-2. The coil pack is marked 1-4, match them up with your cylinders, and you're good to go! Cylinder 1 is on the front of the engine, the side opposite from the transmission. Find your alternator and that's at cylinder 1.

Tuned up a 1993 chevy cavalier has spark won't start

Spray aerosol carb cleaner into the throttle body while an assistant tries to start the engine. If it runs for a few seconds then quits, you are not getting fuel into the engine. Check the fuses. You might have blown the fuse for the fuel injectors (possible if you removed any of the injector harnesses) or the fuel pump relay.

1993 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 not firing on 2 cylinders

The reason I'm asking this is because a dual coil fires BOTH plugs at the same time. If one plug doesn't fire right, the other won't either, even to a point that neither does. Kepp the coils where they are and swap the plugs and wires and see if you have a change. Let me know
