My auto locking is not working, it seems that there must be a short or a fuse out. I also noticed that the radio use to stay on when the key was turned off and now it does not. there must have been a small electircal current that ran everything and now does not seem to be there?

I would look at the ignition unit. These vehicles with the timed power to radio that is supposed to cut out after a few minutes with the ignition off to prevent the battery from being run down have a timing circuit built into the ignition. That radio will shutoff when the door is opened as well so you'll also want to check the door sensors or switches. a faulty switch will prevent the auto lock from activating as Chevrolet built a delay into the system that prevents the doors from electronically locking when a door is open.

Trunk release, power windows, turn signals, wipers, radio all stopped working at the same time on 86 chrysler fifth ave

Hi! This doesn't sound like a shorted wire, because a short would usually blow a fuse. Since you're having trouble with the starter, I'm thinking that the ignition switch needs replacement. Depending on the year/make/model, you may be able to change just the electrical part of the ignition switch.

When engine turned off and keys removed, the radio and interior console remain on. They don't turn off once the door is opened, and the doors will not lock unless you manually lock with the key. Went to...

Sounds like you have a short to power. there are several wires that connect to your radio and console . one is the ignition wire that kills power to the radio and console when the key turns off. What has probably happened is that wire has found a constant power source from another wire and it constantly stays on. finding this short is very difficult because it is under the dash so you might want to take it to a professional. Also if the van has the feature where the radio doesnt cut off until you open the doors, then your short may be somewhere in the sensors on the doors.

04' Ford FreeStar - The Radio Stay On When Van Is Off

Nothing wrong with it. When you remove the key, it stays on for about 20 minutes. It gives you time to finish listening to your radio and roll up the window. Once the driver door is open, everything shuts off or if 20 minutes has passed.

Central locking system

I have recently had this problem I believe this to has been caused by a fault in the drivers door lock assembly It seems this contains the remote receiver. In my case I think there had been some radio interference being the main cause. The remote system seems to be working OK, The door lock will still not operate with the key.
Remove and replace the fuse 25 resetting the ignition module. Starting the engine, switch off remove the key from the ignition, stay in the car lock the doors using the door button, press and hold the remote unlock button for approx 5 seconds, listen to see if you can hear the clicking of the door receiver when you press the remote buttons. Press and hold lock/unlock button. You may be lucky.
