Wiring for the Engine Control Computer

There is no one fuse that powers the idle speed control valve (AKA Air Bypass Valve). It receives its power from the electronic engine control system (known as reference) and that is controlled by the computer depending on the idle load on the engine the voltage varies. So if the system reference voltage was lost then no part of the engine control system would function.

First why is your cluster dead? If it's one of the circuits, it can probably be fixed. Since you live in CO there are plenty of places around Boulder and Ft Collins who can repair circuits.

So so without knowing more I'd need to trouble shoot why the entire cluster is dead.

Yes harnesses can can be modified. If your car has the mouse type belts you're going to need to trace the circuit that powers the mouse. All things being equal, the '87 and '89 wiring should be similar except for the mouse part. You'll need wiring diagrams for your car and the donor cluster. You can get copies at Alfa BB. You'll need your connectors off your old cluster.

Again in these are electronic circuits and can likely be modified by computer repair or electronic circuit repair shops.

If the idle air control valve is working, the passage may be clogged. Other things to check are the PCV flow and possible vacuum leaks.

I assume the car was running before you replaced the computer. If you still have the old computer try it on. This will help you determine if the problem isn't in the new computer. If you can't test as above, check for power to the distributor. If no power then check the circuit from the computer to the distributor (first the fuses that are marked "Engine Control" then the wires at the connector on both ends). If the circuit is OK then the computer is probably faulty.
If you get power then check the coil pack or the distributor. I don't have the wiring diagram for the 2002 Sentra but usually power to the pump is controlled by the distributor.Please feel free to let me know if I can help you more.

sounds like your idle air control valve is not working properly,this valve controls your idle speed and if not working properly will cause what you have described.it is a pretty easy thing to replace just a couple of screws and a wire connection. check your list of replaced parts and make sure they haven't replaced this part already. go to your local auto parts store to see what one looks like and ask them where the location might be on your car. it usually is located by the air intake throttle valve area.just make sure you get the proper size tool to remove the screws while your at the parts store if you already don't have them.

your best place is your local library in the reference section there should be Mitchel Auto Repair books they will have wiring diagrams you can photo copy the diagrams but usually can't check them out these are the same books repair shops have although most repair shops have online version of the books but the online versions are real expensive(around $150 a month)

it comes from the main engine wiring harness and that goes to the firewall and then to the engine control computer

hy mon ami. i own one of those. and your trouble is the MAF. mine is the sentra 2001 2.0 "se sl 1" and i've tried wiht 4 MAF's. the thing is tath u need tath MAF specfically if u tried whit a maf for the 1.8 doesn't gonna work. at least, here in M?xico they just sold this car one year, taht's wy there's not too MAF's for this model. here is about 11000 pesos (like 900 bucks)
