95 Olds 88 dies

My problem is that my 95 olds 88 dies while going down the road, I can toss it up in neutral start it back up and continue down the road, it doesn't do it every day but seems to be getting worse, also you can press the gas pedal while parked and the motor revs up and drops, revs and drop, revs and drops. The car sat for 2 years in a garage without being started, Things I have done so far are I have replaced the fuel filter, ran several cans of fuel systems cleaner through the system, and replaced the screen on the fuel pump. The car only has 37,000 miles on it so looks and smells like a new car.

Well I have now replaced the fuel filter, screen, plugs, air filter, fuel pump, throttle position sensor... It still dies going down the road, haven't tried CPS yet was told that wouldn't be it. He suggest fuel pressure sensor, what do you all think?

Had the same problem for a year.pulled crankshaft pully and changed crankshaft sensor.Did not shut off after that.It is fairly easy to get to you will need a good pully.

It's piggybacked on to the starter.

Also, check the neutral safety switch - Put your foot on the brake and put the car in neutral. Then try to start it. If it starts the neutral safety switch is bad. It could be the ignition switch. It could be to starter solenoid. Does it have an inertia switch? They rarely go bad but I have seen it.

1992 olds 88 stalls. after it sits for a half

Is the Service Engine Soon (or Check Engine) light illuminated on the instrument panel? If so, then have someone pull the codes and post them back here. Autozone will do this for you at no cost.Caution: don't purchase any parts after reading the codes on their recommendation! If no codes, then suspect either a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. There are other possibilities too, but these are primary. I have seen MANY bad crank sensors do exactly what your describe without setting a code.

Vehicle dies while driving down the road.

could it be the A/C pump kicking in. might be boging down the motor or electrical circuit, not letting the injectors get enough power. This could happen if the bearings are going bad in th A/C pump or there is a short in it. Just an idea. sounds like you have done the main components.
