2006 Chevrolet HHR LT Problem

I own a Chevrolet 2006 HHR LT that has 45k miles. I have owned this HHR since brand new. The T/C (Traction Control) light comes on and causes 'Hard Shifting", This HHR has automatic transmission and does NOT have a switch to turn off manually. The T/C light on the dashboard sometimes will shut off and the transmission woks and shifts fine, however I can be driving on the freeway and the light comes on at random. This is very annoying and also the check engine light comes on again, occasionally and when the check engine light comes on the temperature gauge does not work and the A/C also does not work, this also causes the "Remote Start" not start the HHR remotley. ANY SOLUTIONS?

problem is th T/C light came on and stayed on. was told that it was oil on the sensor. presently cleaning filter and sensor and air box. i have 98,000 miles on a 2006 hhr and been using a k & n filter all along. can not understand why now after 24 cleaning and recharging of filter how filter is now causing problem. will let you know if after cleaning all parts if light goes out and stay out.

I have the T/C light coming on an the hard shifting problem. It only happens after I've been driving for a few minutes and not all the time. The radio also has a little problem with the aux input not sounding right.

After looking elsewhere, including http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/... I am beginning to suspect electrical or computer problems... or a sensor?!?

    Any help appriciated.

After searching around, I found several posts that suggested reseating all the relays and fuses under the hood. After checking, I noticed nearly all of them were not seated well. I pushed them all down and I haven't had the problem since.

Did this solve the problem permanently? I am now having the same problem.

Our 2006 HHR began hard shifting. Searched the web for any suggestions and found a post that suggested reseating all the relaysand fuses under the hood. Did that and so far it has corrected the shifting. Thanks for the info.

actually the problem was an actuator in one of the wheels. It's a repair that's about $150. Talk to the dealer.

This problem stems from an actuator in the wheel that goes bad. Repair runs ~$150 and is the only way to fix it.

Hello, I recently had my temp gauge on my 2006 HHR stop working. Now from what I read online it can either be the thermostat or the sensor for the temp gauge because of the restriction of coolant or that the coolant is not getting hot enough and the sensor is not detecting it.I took it to a mechanic and replaced the sensor and the thermostat and the check engine light came off. Hope this helps with the temp gauge issue... Good luck

My 2006 chevy hhr is in between oil changes and two courts low and time to change oil again.

First thing, don't let the manufacture tell you that you can 5000 to 6000 mile without an oil change.Next thing they want you to use oil that is much too thin. They don't want the engine to last too long because they can't sell you a new car that often.City driving you need to change your oil at least every 3000 mile and highway every 4000 mile. The biggest problem is having you oil changed at a quick change that uses BULK oil.If they don't offer oil from a jug, next time bring you own oil if you have to.Use 10w30 in the winter months and 10w40 in the Summer. It don't hurt to put in a can of STP after each change.

Traction control on chevy hhr 2006

The traction control and transmission shifting would involve the body computer more so than the engine computer.
Have you had the body computer scanned for trouble codes ?

Chevy 2006 hhr light says t/c what does this mean?

Could be for the traction control.
You would need to have the body computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

I have a Chev HHR and the t/c light came on. What does it mean?

either your Traction Control is turned off or malfunctioning. There should be a switch near the gear shift normally that allows you to turn this feature on or off as needed. If the switch isn't working then you have a problem in the Transmission Control unit most likely.

Chevy HHR 2008 LT 2.4. Message ESC OFF, SERVICE TRACTION, and ENG PWR REDUCED. What to do? Can I drive car whit this problem.

Hello and welcome. the engine reduce power waraning is the key to the other problems. this is normally a problem with the electronic throttle system. the engine control module disables the traction control system when it detects a engine problem, in your case a problem with the electronic throttle system. you shouldnt drive with this concern. this is normally covered under the vehicles 100,000 mile warranty. you need to conteact your nearest dealer for help

My 2006 HHR traction control keeps engaging when it should not be

The traction control should engage any time the front wheels slip. The only way to disable it is to put the transmission in low 1. If it is engaging (Driver Information Center message) when the wheels are NOT slipping then you need to take the car to the dealer. The HHR is almost all computer controlled and there are very few user adjustments.
