Question about 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

I can't get the heater core assembly out, do i have to take the whole dash out??? And what's the heating/ventilation module??

    well i took out all the bolts my haynes manual says to and it's still in there

The heating-A/C system combines A/C, heating, and ventilating capabilities in a single HVAC housing mounted within the passenger compartment behind the instrument panel. The HVAC housing assembly includes:

  2. A/C evaporator (3)
  3. Recirculation door actuator (4)

I would like to know how replace my heater core on a 2001 S10 chevy blazer


Instructions
    • 1Remove the dashboard. The heater core in S10s is behind the main dashboard, and it must be removed to access the core. The front dash panel can be removed by unbolting several screws at the bottom of the panel, then pulling the panel away from the dash. Once this front panel is off, the primary dash can be unbolted from the firewall with four large bolts below the windshield. Several accessories may need to be taken out to unbolt the dash from the firewall, such as the radio or 4WD switches.
    • 2 Drain the coolant from the core. There is a drain plug at the bottom right of the primary radiator that will empty the coolant system when unscrewed. Some residual coolant might remain in the core, but it will come out when the core is taken out
    • 3 Uncouple the core from the coolant lines. These hoses are directly behind the oil filler tube and will come loose when squeezed with pliers. They are of different sizes, and it won't be necessary to mark them for later re-attachment.
    • 4 Unbolt the core from its mounts behind the removed dash panel. Several bolts might be difficult to reach, but once free from the mounts, the core assembly slides up and out toward the interior of the truck. Lay a towel down when removing the core, as come coolant might splash out.
    • 5 Insert the new heater core and bolt it into the mounts. The openings will fit into the holes provided in the firewall.
    • 6 Reconnect the heater core hoses, and re-attach the dashboard and front panel.
    • 7 Fill the coolant system with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water. Tighten the drain plug on the radiator, then fill it. Crank the truck up with the heater system on its maximum setting and continue to pour coolant into the radiator until it will not take in any more.

How to Replace the Heater Corein a Chevy Impala

Replacing your Chevy Impala'sheater core is no easy task. There are several parts you must carefully removeor reposition to disconnect the core from the heating, ventilating and airconditioning (HVAC) module. This module and the core are located behind thecar's floor ducts.

1. Jack up the car and drain the Impala's cooling system.Loosen the water pump's drain bolt and let the coolant drain into a pan. Closethe drain bolt and lower the car afterward. 2. Remove the heater outlet and inlet hose from theheater core (reposition the hose clamps to do so). Take off the right consoleextension panel, body control module and left side extension panel on the frontfloor console 3. Disconnect the leftinstrument center support bracket (pull away the carpet at its bottom to reachthe nuts). Remove the accelerator control pedal from its position in the frontof the dash. 4. Disengage the center floorducts by raising the outlet duct while pushing the ducts down. Rotate theoutlet duct forward in the car and pull down to remove it from the HVAC module. 5. Use a small chisel to removeall the heat stakes from the heater core cover. Loosen the nut behind the fuelline bracket. Remove the dash panel's stud at the heater hoses. 6. Pull the core's cover downenough to reach the HVAC module's locating pins. Slide the cover rearward untilthe drain tube clears the dash front. Remove the cover by sliding it down,rearward, and to the right. You can now remove the core.
Installing the New Core
1. Install the new core into the HVAC module,attaching a new seal onto the drain tube. Attach the core cover from the rightside, sliding it up and forward into position. 2. Align the draintube with the front dash hole and the core cover holes with the HVAC locatingpins. Install the core cover screws, cutting and folding back the soundinsulator near the center screw to ease that screw's installation. 3. Reinstall the dash panel stud at theheater hoses, tightening the nut behind the fuel line bracket. Align the centerfloor duct with the HVAC and push it up while rotating rearward to install it.Put the floor ducts and outlet duct back into the Chevy Impala. 4. Attach theaccelerator control pedal. Pull the carpet back and position the left centersupport bracket, then tighten the bracket nuts. 5. Reconnect theleft side front floor console extension panel and the body control module tothe car. 6. Put on the outlethose and inlet hoses to the core, securing them with their clamps. Refill thecooling system with the proper mixture of water and coolant.

Broken heater coil


If you mean the heater core is leaking. Here is how to change it:

To Remove:
  1. Remove the HVAC assembly.
  2. Remove the heater core cover screws.
  3. Remove the heater core cover from the HVAC assembly.
  4. Remove the heater core gasket from the core.
  5. Remove the heater core from the HVAC module assembly.
To Install:
  1. Install the heater core to the HVAC module assembly.
  2. Install the heater core cowl gasket to the HVAC module assembly.
  3. Install the heater core cover and screws to the HVAC module assembly.
  4. Install the HVAC module assembly to the vehicle.

Heater doesnt blow hot air,,have replaced thermostat


Have you checked to make sure your antifreeze is up to the correct level? If fluid is low, it won't heat. Let the engine run with the radiator cap off in case you have an air pocket in cooling system.

There is a leak in heating core on the passengers side how can i fix that myself


This is a job that will take a lot of motivation for even someone that is used to working on this stuff. All the items that need servicing is under the dash. You'll have to disassemble all the duct work to get at this core. There is nothing really technical about it, you just have to remember how it all goes back together. Have your digital camera ready and take pics of each dis-assembly step. You really should invest in a repair manual that spells out the steps too.

REPLACING HEATER CORE


HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. 2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System. 3. Use J 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose inlet and outlet clamps at the heater core. 4. Disconnect the inlet and outlet heater hose from the heater core. 5. Remove the RH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel. 6. Remove the LH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel 7. Remove the floor carpet. 8. Remove the rear floor air outlet duct from the holes in the floor reinforcement. 9. Disconnect the rear floor air outlet duct from the heater air outlet cover. 10. Remove the rear floor air outlet duct. 11. Remove the heater air outlet cover screws . 12. Remove the heater air outlet cover heat stakes with a small chisel. 13. Remove the heater air outlet cover from the HVAC module assembly. 14. Remove the heater core cover screws . 15. Remove the heater core cover heat stakes with a small chisel. 16. Remove the heater core cover from the HVAC module assembly. 17. Remove the heater core from the HVAC module assembly. 18. Remove the heater core foam seal (1) from the HVAC module assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install a new heater core foam seal to the HVAC module assembly. 2. Install the heater core to the HVAC module assembly. 3. From the inside of the heater core cover, drill the dimples adjacent to the heat stakes using a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit. 4. Install the heater core cover to the HVAC module assembly. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 5. Install the heater core cover screws . Tighten Tighten all screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) . 6. From the inside of the heater air outlet cover, drill the dimples adjacent to the heat stakes using a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit. 7. Install the heater air outlet cover. 8. Install the heater air outlet cover screws (2). Tighten Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) . 9. Connect the rear floor air outlet duct to the heater air outlet cover. 10. Install the rear floor air outlet duct to the holes in the floor reinforcement. 11. Install the floor carpet. 12. Install the RH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel. 13. Install the LH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel. 14. Connect the inlet and outlet heater hose to the heater core. 15. Use J 38185 in order to reposition the heater hose inlet and outlet clamps to the heater core. 16. Install the fuel injector sight shield. 17. Fill the cooling system.

Replacing heater core in 2000 GMC sonoma. Dash is


Usually the whole hvac box has to come out of the vehicle to replace the heater core. Once the box is out it can be opened and the heater core removed. Be careful with all the vent doors and actuators, make note of how everything came apart. The last thing you want to do is have to remove the dash and box because something wasn't on just right. Good luck.

Replacment of heater core on 01 chevy S-10


Have replaced my heater core in my 2001 regular cab 4wd in december 2009. Had to pull the complete dash including the complete metal dash behind the dash that you see. Also had to remove the right passenger side inner fender well to acess the remaining two bolts that hold the heater core cover to the firewall. Its an insane job to do but the repair shop books call for 9 1/2 hrs to do the job. I'm not an expert but this is what it takes.
