2001 Dodge Dakota- Electrical

My Dodge is giving me problems starting. It takes a minute for it to start and then you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal or it will stall. Must do this for the first 2-3 minutes of getting it started. My Brake and ABS lights are on in my dashboard. My radio is a CD/AM/FM AC Delco prodycts. It has a Treble and Bass knob that light up, well, those are the only two lights lighting and they blink. Going from bright to dim to off. Could this be tied into a bad computer and how can I get it fixed?

First thought it was bad battery... replaced. A couple of days later, same thing started happening again. When I try to start the truck, the engine drags as if dead battery, but holding the key, it gets better (slowly) until the engine finally starts. Then I have to hold rpm's with gas pedal for 1-3 minutes and it's fine after. If the battery is freshly charged, it starts/runs with no problems. Autozone ran diagnostic on battery/alternator... both fine. Bench tested starter... fine. Can drive (even with lights/high beams) for hours with no indication that it's running off the battery (even if I had to jump start it).

As crazy as this sounds, I think it was actually a bad battery to begin with and then a bad replacement battery. I replaced the original battery (originally the high amp option) with one from NAPA with a higher amp rating (matched to truck with their computer). The problem returned (as I said previously). I finally got frustrated enough and figured I would try another battery. I bought a Die Hard from Sears. I did a top off trickle charge and then installed it. I have not had the problem since... it's been 3 months and the truck has been great... no problems.

2001 dodge dakota will not start

Sounds like a bad battery, or bad/loose connection there. After the battery is replaced, or disconnected, it will need a little bit to relearn how to idle.

Replaced ctm unit and truck won`t stay running.

there are 2 sensor on the carb . you may need to replace both to find out whiche one it is . try this also give it gas while starting and when it starts you will have to keep your foot on the gas a little to keep it running if it runs that way its one of the 2 senors .

I beleive if you check your air idle control valve located back rear of throttle body. remove torx screws and clean or replace. it will idle.
