The factory radio that came with your car actually operates the on dash warning display. (The annoying large yellow square on the far right that flashes whenever there is a problem) Since the original radio was removed you will probably have to take it to a dealer so that they can bypass the radio message control and reset process. They have to be able to do this due to all the kids needing systems that you can hear from 10 blocks away!

I think you have something on the radio issue, pursue that as the cause, call the dealer they may be able to help with some info, also there are forums just for your car, join one and post a thread with your question, allot of owners I bet have had the same issue.

Electrical problems

Same thing is happening right now on a 2002 Monte Carlo. When the key is simply turned to ON, all of the lights on the dash starts blinking rapidly. When I attempt to turn the car over, there is no CLICK or anything from the engine - nada. Ignition turns and the dash goes dark, as if it wants to TRY to start - but nothing happens.
But, when I press the brake pedal (and the key is just sitting in the ON position), all of the blinking lights stops flashing and just stay lit. Therefore, I changed the brake switch, thinking it might make a huge difference. Didn't really help at all. When the key is turned, you can hear the fuel pump engage and everything seems to be ready to go. But, the car won't start (it will only start when it feels like it)...hit and miss, pretty much.
Does anyone know the TRUE solution to this issue? Does the ignition need to be replaced in order to get this car to crank over

2004 Monte Carlo SS starts but wont stay running. I just put a new battery in it. What can be some of the problems?

if this happened after the new battery the security system may need reprogram. turn the key to on and leave it on untill the security light turns off then turn the key off wait 5 sec turn the can on it should be ok.

My 99 monte carlo runs great but every once in a while it wont start it cranks over but the fuel pump never turns on if i let it sit for a few days it will start i always know when its going to start...

Your fuel pump is getting ready to go out.Check your fuel pressure it should be 48-55 psi with key on and engine off.If its not within specs then replace the pump and filter.

03 monte carlo wont start... turn key to AC position, hear electrical motor sound never heard before... turn to ON position, all gauges drop to zero

the noise your are hearing is the fuel pump, you might need a new battery by the sounds of it, or your ground is corroted or your connections arent tight and could be causing the power failure, check your battery system over and down to the starter, if its not grounded right it wont start it will just go blank.

My 2000 monte carlo ss with a 3800 engine tends to start and stall about six times befor running, I pulled 3 codes 0108, 0404, and 1404 from the the computer .

I believe the codes are emmission related. I would have the fuel pump pressure checked. The fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator seems to be the failrue. The restarting of the engine several times is making the system build up enough pressure to start running . I would take to a shop to have the fuel pressure checked.

2001 monte carlo SS 3800 motor, turn over but won't fire

There is a possibility that the battery is bad and not making the fuel pump work properly or to it's right pressure. Cna you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the ignition switch to the on position... Have someone unscrew the fuel cap and listen near the hole you put fuel in to see if they hear a humming or vibrating sound when you turn the key to the on position.... If you hear the fuel pump come on Check the battery... It might have good voltage but the amps might be week... It could be the battery...
