The firing order of in-line 4 cylinder engines is the same (for old car models) of Chevy, Olds, Pontiac, Dodge/Plymouth, Datsun/Nissan, Honda, International, Isuzu/LUV, Jeep, Mazda/Courier, Mitsubishi, Opel, Toyota and VW.
"Always check the exact firing order of your engine. It is is generally stamped or cast on the engine's intake manifold, valve cover or cylinder head."

1964PONTIAC GTO CLYLAY OUT

Number 1 cylinder is on the drivers side closest to the radiator. If facing the front of the car its the closest one to you on the right. The right bank of cylinders are sequenced 1-3-5-7 and the left 2-4-6-8 from front to back. Firing order should be on top of the intake manifold.

The car turns over but won't start. just had a tune up, new plug wires, air filter, spark plugs. fuel filter. sounds like a clunk from the engine when it's turning over.

possibility that who ever performed the tune-up messed up the firing order and now it does not want to start and you get a clunking noise from the engine is because of this.

How do i install a tri power on a 1966 pontiac gto?

first you will need a tri power intake manifold, and then the correct carbs. its just like you were replacing a intake manifold gasket. its not a big job, but you need to know what your are doing, and then tuning them is another job, you can by tri power setups ready to bolt on from several companies.
