I have a 1998 dodge caravan. The front headlight assembly plastic is fouled from the elements. I'd like to replace the assembly.

I have a 97 Chrysler T&C that I think the service dept. stripped the adjusters on, but they say that it always happens and take no responsibility. They tell me these assembly replacements are about $800 each side. How can I get headlights that don't point at the ground for this very old van without paying twice its value to do the repair? Thanks for any help you can offer. I will be kind with my comments on the help. I practice diplomacy always.

check once more the front turn bulbs, connections, fuse if front and rear have a separate one. Once you connect the front turn signal, blinking frequency should normalize.

Changing the headlight bulb in 2003 dodge grand caravan

1) open the hood.
2) Carefully remove the three screws holding the headlight assembly in place.
3) Carefully slide the headlight assembly out. At this point you can replace the headlight bulb, turn signal bulb, or the entire headlight assembly. To replace the headlight bulb turn the collar holding the bulb in counter clockwise. Pull the bulb out of the headlight assembly. Replace the bulb. Insert the bulb into the headlight assembly insert the collar and turn clockwise until it locks. (Do not touchglass with your fingers or it will cause the bulbs to catastrophically fail - clean with alcohol pad if you touch the glass)
4) Carefully insert the headlight assembly back into place.
5) Replace the three screws removed in step 2 being careful not to over tighten.

How do I change the Driver's side Front Headlight on the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager?

  1. Unscrew the three screws that secure the headlight assembly to your Dodge Caravan. Put the screws in your pocket or another safe place, so you won't lose them before reinstalling the headlight assembly.
  2. Pull the headlight assembly away from the front of the vehicle. Turn the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise to unlock the electrical connector. Remove the electrical connector from the bulb assembly by pulling it straight out.
  3. Replace the old bulb with a new halogen headlight bulb. Connect the electrical connector and turn the bulb retaining ring clockwise to lock the bulb into place.
  4. Reinstall the headlight assembly and secure the screws tightly before closing the hood. Turn on your Dodge Caravan, flip on the headlights and verify they're working properly.

Headlight assembly replacement

There are three or four 10mm nuts that hold the headlight assembly to the radiator support. Access these by opening the hood, then you will see them. You may have to remove the battery or airbox to get to the ones on the drivers side.

Remove the headlamp assembly, and replace the bulb. Should be one or two bolts on the top holding it in, then a couple of push joints to pull out.

Air cleaner

On my '98 Caravan, the air filter is located slightly to the left and behind the red cap. It's a black plastic box which says "Remove To Access Air Filter Below. The filter is mounted in the box.
