I also have the same problem, My 2002 grand cherokee with a 4.7 just died. I can not get it to run now. I have changed the crank sensor but no change. i just had the same issue today when i was in drive at a light on a hill the radio, heat everything was still on but when i put my foot on the gas it wouldn't move. I had to push it up the hill then i tried to start it and it just started again . later on i was in the fast lane doin 60 and it just shut off again so i had to put it in nuetral and it turned over ...this is not the first time but it only happen it i drive for a long period of time .. if anyone can give me a solution to this that would be great.. thank you i just had the same issue today when i was in drive at a light on a hill the radio, heat everything was still on but when i put my foot on the gas it wouldn't move. its possible that the fuel pump may have gone bad and needs replacing.have the fuel pressure and volume checked with a gage.fuel pumps go bad as sudden as a light bulb burns out without warning.
CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID FIRST.FLUID COULD BE LOW CAUSING SLIPPING.IF TRANSMISSION FLUID OKAY.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE IT SHOULD BE 44 - 54 PSI. IF NOT REPLACE FUEL FILTER. PRESSURE STILL LOW FUEL PUMP FAULTY.IF FUEL PUMP OKAY FUEL INJECTORS IS CLOGGED UP.
