Ok first you have to take the wheel off
then you will see the caliper there'
there are to bolts behind that take them out
then take the caliper off dont undo nothing else
take the old pads out
use a caliper to push the cylinder back (its what pushes the brake in)
put the new brakes in the same way they came off
do the bolts up
then pump the brakes
is the cylinder is to hard to push back you will have to realse the pressure buy undoing the bleeder then you will have to bleed them again (but in this case they should move easy

Hi I have a 2008 Kia Rio that rides super but sometimes not all when I depress the brakes to stop there is a whine. Can anyone tell me what that is Rob

This noise could be generated from the front brake pads and rotors. Or brake dust accumulation in the rear brake drums. A simple cleaning process will/should fix this issue for you. Hope this helps...

I would suggest that you take it to another shop and have the system checked by a technician.A good pad to install is wagner thermo quiet brake pads and have them check the thickness of the rotors also.A good technician will check your complete braking system to make sure there are no faulty parts.

I have never changed brake pads before in any car! Do you think I will be able to change the front brake pads on my 2003 Kia Rio? What will I need and how should I go about it? I would love a step by step...

Piece of cake....you can do it! I would register at autozone.com. It's free and you can access a full online repair manual. Anytime I purchase a different car I also purchase a Haynes Repair Manual. These are also available at auto parts stores. It will give step by step instructions for your particular make and model of car. Hope this helps and good luck.

Noisey brakes kia sportage

you may have" lifetime" pads that are extra hard or rubber insulators are worn out start there and get back to us screeching is usualy a result of using the wrong lube instead of what came with the break pads

Brakes

I would take it to the dealer because of unusual brake pad wear.brake pads under normal wear are not covered usually. But if the outside pad wore down to metal and the inside is ok that is a caliper sticking causing a drag of the outer pad to the rotor.

Problem getting caliber over rotor after changing brake pads.

how did you remove caliper to get pads out? you need to make sure piston is seated all the way in caliper, and that caliper is seated all the way on slide pin.
