Audi fault code J386 (2002)

Guys,
Audi A4. Drivers door won't lock with the central locking, electric windows won't work, alarm & immob. won't set. Interior light on all the time (the car thinks the door is open).
I had my car scanned & fault code J386 Door control unit drivers side came up.
Where abouts is this, I only ask as the manual states the control unit is under the passenger seat & is the ECU (convienience unit) & doesn't mention a control unit within the drivers door.
Any suggestions, can a secondhand unit be bought & used? 7 how difficult a job is this?

I have exactly the same problem, drivers door not locking remotely, interior light not dimming, windows and mirrors not working.

I have same problem as well. Locks and windows wont work from inside. Sunroof, interior light and trunk not working either. But locks and trunk work off remote and the car alarm does arm itself. Tried changing drivers door control module and still wont work.

My doors lock automatically and I cannot unlock with button on door. I have to reach over to passenger from inside to let somebody in from outside. my dome light does not turn on either when i unlock with remote or open door. I assume same issue?

There's a TSB on that problem. It involves broken wires in the A and B pillar from the central convenience module to the rest of the car. Ask your VW dealership or what not for a more specific answer.

My car is a 1997 audi a4 and doesnt have remote locking but does have central locking. used to work fine but now the key only unlocks the drivers door. the other doors will not unlock. however if i unlock...

I would start with driver door lock , not the lock cyllinder , but lock assembly which is inside the door and have switches build in to it.

1999 Audi A3 1.8T Electric Windows and Central Locking Won't work

will your passenger door open with the key and is it just one side that your windows are not working or both. if its just one side it might be your regulator motor in the door thats not working if its both it might be your central locking pump usually in the boot. however if both of them are working fine it could be that your key needs reprogrammed however i think the 1st 2 are more likely to be the problem.

Driver door central locking

More than likely your front driver door module has failed.  You will need to replace this module and readapt the key fobs for locking and unlocking

Central locking and windows unusable due to leak

I've been dealing with similar problems (windows and sunroof dead, power locks iffy, dome light doesn't work, random chiming) and best I can figure is:

a) get rid of the leak and any standing water
b) depending on the year of your car check the relays and/or central locking module

I spent a lot of time checking the ECU and door interior parts and those were both dead ends. I also thought the standing water on the floor might be shorting actual wiring, but now I've eliminated that as well. Although my alarm hasn't been going off, the "door chime" has and the instrument cluster sometimes shows 3 or 4 doors open while driving. VAG-COM showed some alarm trip type faults as well. Central locking is my next move when I've got some time.

Center locking not working electric window not working

I had the same problem with my 2002 2.5 tdi, i spent weeks looking for the fault an found it to be 2 broken wires inside the drivers door rubber wiring loom ( near door hindges ). it was causing same fault no int/light - no central locking to drivers door - no electric windows.
i managed to repair wires and it now fine..
