That is just the torque lock on the converter, mine has been doing that for a long time, doesn't seem to harm anything and it is only the first start up in the morning. you actually have to have the converter rebuilt or replaced to remedy it.

Make sure the power steering fluid level is at the appropriate level.
Also, if you haven't changed the fluid according to the manual, it may be time. Let the mechanic know your observation before changing the fluid.

Car randomly jerking when acclerating

It sounds like its a coilpack. Its hard to say whick one, but it can have hot fire running slow. Then when the demand go's up and running faster it fails. So it might be a little expensive but I would go ahead and replace all of em. Prob lesss than 100 tho.

1997 Honda Civic EX (automatic) jerks while accelerating?

Check your wires, plugs and coils. I think it is an ignition problem myself. Something is breaking down under a load. My guess would be a bad coil or wire, the hard starting could be a symtem of this also, As I first read your description I was thinking maybe a leaking fuel injector or faulty fuel injector, but I believe it is in the ignition system. I hope this Helps! Merry Christmas!
