The lock? As in security lock or the lock onto the striker bolt? If your thinkg of the striker bolt lock, take a screw driver and put pressure as if you were pulling the door open and lift the handle at the same time. It will open slightly then just open it completely with your hand. Lube it up and shut the door. Shouldn't have any problems for a while if ever. Just lube up now and then.

I have a jeep Cherokee 2001 my door driver side won't lock need help or advise but inside says its lock but I open it from outside the door still opens.

sounds like the actuator inside the door, has come loose from the locking mechanism. You may need to remove the inner panel of the door and observe the motions as you attempt to lock the door.

Door locks stick on and drain battery

One of the switches must be bad or stuck in the lock or unlock position. Try functioning each switch several times in both directions to see if you can get it unstuck or maybe help isolate which switch it is.

There's a small door (access hole) on the inside of the hatch door below the window & to the right looking out from the inside. Open it up by pulling the release tab & the door will come off. Stick your finger in between the insulation... about the middle of the opening & to the left a little & you'll feel a little plastic lever. Move it either up or down to unlock. I believe down unlocks it & up locks it.

ok hold the unlocking latch as if you are opening the door and use your fingure or a screw drive to bring the locking mechanism on the side of the door back to position(where the door locks to the frame of the car)

Lock and unlock both run off the same power supply...I'd be looking for a bad switch or a broken wire in the door harness where the wires go through the rubber boot between the door and pillar.

Hope you mean that you removed the inner cover....Generally the most common cause of latch being stuck is that the solenoid that operates the door lock gets jammed. remove the arm linkage that connects the solenoid to the lock and try moving the levers by hand. (you need to reach up into the door to do that even with the door open...its not really easy but is do-able) Most times it is easier to work inside with the window up.

Power windows only operate from the driver master control. replaced master control switch and the other windows still do not work, fuses all OK 2001 jeep cherokee sport

Check the ground circuits. Find out what wires are the ground suppllies. take a 12 volt test light from battery positive and probe the circuit if it lights up the ground is good is it does not bad ground. I would first check the wires in the door jam. where the harness from the car goes into the door. pull back the rubber cover I have seen tons of wire get damaged in there from the door opening and closing all the time. hope this helps.
