we had to replace the battery and after that, the radio will not work and we get "------" in the screen??? can i call a dealer, or is there a code we can just punch in...it is a 1986 mercedes benz

I just had my glow plugs replaced and now the radio says code in the screen. Called the dealer they want me to come in with my DL and registration to prove I own the car for security reasons and then they will help me and probably charge me ***********.

Call any Mercedes-Benz dealer and give them YOUR vehicle's VIN# to get the code number for your radio.

The only place to find out about that is the Mercedes dealer. I might charge you some money to do that.

Lost code radio V40

VIN doesn't matter. You need to read the serial number from radio housing. Then go to your dealer. Sometimes you'll be happy and get the code for free. Sometimes dealers charge for this. You can also try to ask some independent specialists. Anyway: the start point is serial no. of the radio.

Radio code

bad news. you didn't read the operators guide in the glove box.
it says , dont pull battery or run it dead or the radio codes are lost.
it says, get the radio code first day you get car.
when the car was new, in the gove box was also a code card.
if all that is lost?
you must take the radio serial number to the dealer ....
it says that too.
the operators guide is free,

Lost radio code

Radio lock out codes are security related, and each code is unique to the car and the radio in that car, and that unique code was supplied with the original paper work when the car was delivered to the original owner to discourage theft, so they are not published on the internet, if they were what would be the point?? any thief could get the code after stealing your radio. Contact the dealer for instructions and what info u need to get your cars unique radio code. The dealer will require the serial number off the radio and proof of ownership of the car it came from.
