95 plymouth voyager van

Really bad oil leak that appears to be on belt side of engine.looks as if its high on engine but valve covers do not look as if the are the problem. So much oil comes out under pressure that its unclear where its comming from. I was told that this started after van bottomed out on speed bump,and I now have the van.PLEASE HELP ME

    it started one day when I heard a noise and then a lot of white smoke started coming out. Since then I put in some stop leak and I usually have to put in a quart a week, but now I have to put in a quart every 20 miles.

It is the head gasket leaking down the motor. i have 1995 voyager and i was putting in about 1 quart every 2 days, so just look up at the head gasket from the bottom of the car and you should see the oil marks coming out of the head gasket.

For all dodge minivans 94 to 2001 (and others) with 3.0 ltr V-6. You're driving on the freeway your temp gauge starting to go up. You get off the freeway. when the engine is cooled down you discover that the coolant in gone. You refill the radiator and look for a leak but can't find one. You check the oil but its not foamy, so no coolant there. If all seems to be operating normally, check under the vehicle when the engine is warmed up. There may be a slight coolant leak on the passenger side near the front tire .When the water pump on these engines typically coolant will leak out of the pump thru a "weep hole" located at the bottom of the pump. Most of the loss occurs while driving so your only indication may be that small drip of coolant. The water pump is powered by the camshaft timing belt and is located under the timing belt cover and can not be seen, however any coolant leak, no matter how small, in the area just to the rear of the crankshaft pulley is almost surely a failed water pump and must be addressed immediately

i would think that you need to look for a leak, there are rubber hoses attached to your steel lines under your van and in the engine compartment, as well as your fuel pump. start your van with the parking brake applied, and tires blocked, then you can trace your fuel lines out, just remember if you dont see a wet spot that doesnt mean theres no leak, your looking for dry rotted hose. what could be causeing a starting delay could be that its sucking air, and if your fuel pump is under the hood, then the fuel line going from the fuel tank to the front is a suction hose, if you have a fuel pump in the fuel tank the that line is a pressure hose. hope this helps

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks


The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.

The oil pump removal procedure for Plymouth Voyager 2000.
A oil pump is usually located in the oil pan. If you want to change the oil pump and replace it with a new one, roll up your sleeves and get ready for some dirty work.
The procedure to remove oil pump is as follows:--
  • Drive your vehicle up onto ramps or lifts so you have room to work as you pull out the oil pump. You could also use a jack, but make sure you brace the front wheels so they don't roll. In addition, set the emergency break firmly into position so the car doesn't roll.
  • Remove the engine front cover then drain the engine oil and take out the oil pan. It is under the engine and looks like the bottom of the motor.
  • Unscrew the oil pump mounting bolts with a wrench and proceed to remove the oil pump itself by pulling it down and out of the engine. Avoid getting any contaminants into the oil pump assembly while removing.
The Water pump removal procedure for Plymouth Voyager 2000.
The water pump is the heart of the Plymouth Voyager's cooling system, circulating the coolant. When the water pump is faulty, it can cause serious damage to the engine of your Plymouth Voyager.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan.
  • Remove the right inner splash shield and the accessory drive belts. Support the engine underneath and remove the right motor mount with the bracket.
  • Take off the front cover and remove the timing belt along with the timing belt idler pulley. Also remove the camshaft sprockets, the rear cover to the timing belt and the alternator with its bracket.
  • Loosen and remove the bolts to the water pump and remove it from the engine.Install the new water pump after inserting a new o-ring gasket. Tighten the bolts to 105-inch lbs. Make sure that the pump can move freely by rotating it by hand.
  • Replace all components in reverse order. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts to 75 foot pounds and the timing belt idler pulley to 45 foot pounds.
  • Refill the cooling system with coolant and reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks when it reaches normal operating temperatures.

Loud noises coming from the cooling system could be a sign that your water pump needs replacing. A leak in the coolant may also be an indicator. You can expect that a water pump will need to be changed every 70 to 100 thousand miles or so in a Plymouth Voyager vehicle.

Looking to buy a 2001 Voyager 3.3l. Do these have a cambelt? How offten should they be changed?


Timing chain. Have had them go 200,00 miles without change, and sold vehicles still running good.

1997 plymouth grand voyager v6 3.0L broken timing belt


I had the same thing happen, No, I was told this is not one of the engines that allows the piston to contact the valves. I replaced the timing belt 2 years ago and had no valve problems.

YOU NEED TO ISOLATE TICK TO FRONT OR REAR BANK OF ENGINE..A MECHANIC'S STETHOSCOPE CAN HELP YOU ISOLATE..THEN REMOVE FRONT OR REAR VALVE COVER AND PUSH ON EACH ROCKER ARM..IF A LASH ADJUSTER(LIFTER)IS BAD,IT WILL BE SOFT OR COMPRESS WHEN YOU PUSH ON IT..LIFTERS ARE IN ROCKER ARMS ON A 3.0L AND IN BLOCK ON 3.3 AND 3.8L ENGINES

Strong pungent rotten egg smell while driving ,with car cuttingof


You have an oil leak. Chances are the valve cover is seeping oil onto the exhaust manifold. Also the drip lite on your dash means that you are low in oil. So check the oil , add if needed. The bigger problem is that if the car is high miles. You have worn rings which is presurizing the valve cover which is causing it to seep out. It would also explain the oil indicator lite on the dash. If money is tight you just need to check the oil level once a weak and add. Milk it. Otherwise its and engine overhaul, big money. good luck.

Take a look around the cam shaft position sensor....it'll be on the end of the head.
