well, like all cars .
get it dry, first. my guess air bags at seat connectors will fail. too.
1: check fuses next.
2: then scan it. connect the scan tool and addresses all DTC errors.
if you dont have a shop, with tools tow it to one with that.
any ASE shop , check it and tell you how bad it is, and cures.
flooded cars are not easy to fix and love to REPEAT fail.

Air bag light will not go out

Hello Kathy,

Your Air Bag Light staying on is a warning that the system needs to be checked.

Some vehicles have a key actuated switch that controls passenger bag deployment, which is illuminated when active but instrument panel displays are a warning to the driver that something is wrong..

Check your owners manual for the complete details on the Air Bag System.

The "Air Bag" light is on, mechanic didn't know what to do. The manual does not give any suggestion on problem plus I'm not sure which air bag, driver or passenger?

check your owners manuel under air bag , i dont have any info on your 05 optima , but most owners manuels tell you what if this happens and the most liklley causes . you might also look up the blue book value before you think about pouring any large amounts of money into your vehicle shoul a air bag need replacing. air bags are exspensive probley more then the car is worth . my 03 rio is woth $500 and my 04 spectra is worth $800.

Srs air bag lights on does not switch off

When the air bag light stays on it is telling you that the bag is not working. If you have checked the fuses and they are good it should be looked at by a certified tech.

AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHIME RINGS PERIODICALLY

I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee Limited and Had similar problem. Found out that a wire/connection harness had gotten cut under PASSENGER seat.from seats moving back and forth. It's part of the airbag system, it tells airbag system if seatbelt is fastened and if occupant is in seat. Since the wire is broken, it can't report back to air back system and activates the light. try this, hope it helps.

99 hyundai sonata airbag light and reset.

There are no campaigns/recalls for the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System - Air Bag). However, there is a Service Bulleting regarding the wiring harness under the seats:
DESCRIPTION: Motion of the side impact air bag wiring harness and connector may result in illumination of the air bag warning light and one or both diagnostic codes listed below:
  • B1378: Driver side air bag (DSAB) resistance high.
  • B1382: Passenger side air bag (PSAB) resistance high.
This campaign provides a new side impact air bag wiring harness connector mounting procedure. VEHICLES AFFECTED:
  • Model : 1999 - 2002 SONATA vehicles
  • Production date range: - Produced through July 23, 2001
  • VIN range: - Produced through KMHWF35H82A526636
SPECIAL NOTES: The service procedure to be followed depends on the original wire harness routing under the seats. The required parts are different for each procedure.
  • For vehicles produced on or before June 30, 1999, use the procedure for Type 1 seats. Order service kit part number 88010-38A00.
  • For vehicles produced on or after July 1, 1999, use the procedure for Type 2 seats. Order service kit part number 88010-38B00.
If your vehicle doesn't fall within the production range, it's not affected.
I recommend you take the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Department and ask them if your vehicle has had this repair already. If it doesn't apply, pay the diagnostic fee to find out what the problem is. They will give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).. Then you'll know what the problem is.
