That is correct. If your coolant temp. sensor is bad or there is a bad connection. Your temp. gage will not read the proper temp. The sensor is just a thermistor, here is what it looks like. You can check the sensor with an ohm meter. my temp hand on the cluster wont moved i just got - 10_2_2011_9_38_00_pm.jpg

Oh well FixYa is not what it used to be. Sorry, they have some issues. The picture is missing,.

Hi, What was fixed? If they did not replace the easiest component to fail, which is the temp sensor, what did they fix? It is most likely the sensor, but it seems odd that this was not checked at the beginning.

Dash gauges stop working and wont start

Sounds like the cluster itself maybe bad, someone else can chime in, but newer cars have electronic clusters that move based on the computer. Get one at the junkyard and test it out (while at the junkyard)

Is there a way i can make my pop up lights on my 91 firebird stay up

sounds like the connecting rod to the drivers side is broken loose from mount, can try to reconnect rod, actuator on passengers side is not working possibly mmm i think those were vacuum line run so check vacuum tube. If mount is broken possible epoxy together. both fixes shouldn't be too bad and correct running lights, a Chilton or Hayes repair manual would help you with diagrams and instructions, and any of the fire bird forums would be able to give you more help. Good luck on fixing up that old bird, hope you have a v-8.

Bmw e36 318is 1997 instrument cluster help needed.Went dead while driving....now petrol and temp/guage not working.....What can i check? replacing the tem swicth and termostat

CHECK 5 AMP FUSE TO THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CIRCUIT WHICH SENDS POWER TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.IF FUSE OKAY.EITHER CLUSTER HAS A LOOSE WIRE OR CLUSTER SHORTED OUT.IF CLUSTER IS FAULTY. THE BMW HAS TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER BECAUSE NEW CLUSTER HAS TO BE CODED TO MATCH THE VECHICLE.

My gas hand and my temp hand doesnt work on 92 chevy caprice

IT MAY BE GM'S DESIGN CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE MULTI-WIRE CONNECTOR THAT PLUGS ONTO THE BACK OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS MOUNTED IN THE PLASTIC HOUSING BEHIND THE CLUSTER. SOMETIMES THE CLUSTER DOESN'T GO IN THE DASH QUITE FAR ENOUGH TO MAKE A PROPER CONNECTION, FOR SOME OF THE THINGS IN THE CLUSTER TO WORK PROPERLY. YOU WILL NEED TO PULL THE CLUSTER OUT TO SEE IF THAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM. WHEN YOU GET THE CLUSTER LOOSE & STILL IN THE DASH, TURN ON THE IGNITION SWITCH & WIGGLE THE CLUSTER & SEE IF THE FUEL GA. TRIES TO MOVE. IF IT MOVES YOU WILL NEED TO PUT RUBBER BANDS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN BEHIND THE CONNECTOR TO BRING IT TOWARD THE CLUSTER A LITTLE MORE.

On a 57 plate suzuki swift the speedo and mileometre have stopped working.the fuel gauge is up and down.and now the diagnostic light has come on.any ideas

This sounds like the instrument cluster has gone faulty, unfortunately. With any luck, you might be able to find a replacement at a scrap yard somewhere to at least save some money. Otherwise, the dealership is the only other place in which to purchase one of these.

I hope this helps and good luck! :)

Gas rpm or speedometer hand wont move

Common problem on the 03-06 Cavalier instrument clusters for the gauges to start going out. It's caused by failing stepper motors on the circuit board of the speedometer cluster. Check out his page for more about it and how to get it fixed - Cavalier speedometer repair
