I tested the red and black wires coming to the coil and I am readings 12volts on the left side. I check the right side using an ohms meter and I am getting no reading. Double check all connections and make sure they are completly seated and locked into place, other than that buy a new ignition module and try that if it doesnt work you can always take it back for a refund. also make sure the firing order is dead perfect.

We have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Rated Edition. The transmission has been rebuilt, some of the bolts on the exhaust manifold are broke causing rattle, the radio is no longer working, and my mother...

Hello, My name is Mike,

First of all, based on What I read above is not a coil issue or spark plug issue., I believe the rattle she is hearing is caused from the exhaust manifold has cause this problem, as sense it is loose, it has air leak, which causes like a back compression type of thing. Like a air intake leak. Meaning the Exhaust manifold is of course designed to have exhaust out and goes through your system, and then through your caddilac converters, which of course have 02 sensors. Now, it is possible that sense she ignored this issue, there are a few related issues. Yes, she could of fouled the plugs, by the manifold leak which causes air leak, and which also can cause emission problem like the 02 sensors, if they are bad, will cause the engine light to come on a lot of times and the car to die. I first would check your head gasket (can do with pressure test) and your manifold gasket, and your plug wires and plugs in case they got fouled because of this, and for sure have the 02 sensor checked. MOST all this can be checked if you can get running at all, at AUTO ZONE for free, they put on there hand held computer and can tell you what codes come up to direct it better. If you can not get the car somewhere, then do what you can by checking plug wires, plugs, look at gaskets for leaks, check oil, to make sure no water in oil. But best to get it looked at, especially with engine light on. MIke

I have a 2000 Passat V6. They told me that same thing. To replace the gaskets is easy. You just remove the covers and the air filter box and unscrew the 6 bolts holding the valve cover on it and there you go. You want to clean around the gasket service and add a little bit of sealant to the edges. Replace the old gaskets and put everything back together, be careful not to overtighten the bolts, can flatten out the gasket and cause oil leak again. On the right side of the engine, you have to remove the coolant box to get to it. Same procedure....

What is system too lean bank1 and bank2

The air/fuel mixture has too much air or not enough gas. Usually the former, as the PCM uses airflow sensing to calculate the proper amount of fuel to inject. The common causes of this condition is a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks may be in the hoses connected to the intake manifold or in the manifold gaskets. Check all hoses for brittleness, leaks, and proper fit/tightness to their connections. Test the intake gaskets for leaks by spraying carb cleaner or ether at the gaskets with the engine running. If the engine speeds when you spray, the gaskets are leaking and must be replaced. If you have more questions, please let us know.

Make sure it is engine oil,and not transmission oil,If it does not run hot,and it is engine oil,the intake is most likely the problem.

My engine is smoking and smells like burnt oil? maybe. there is a gear symbol with an ! next to my park/drive on the dash board

Perhaps oil has leaked onto the exhaust manifold.
Check the oil pressure also.

Oil LeakOil leak, probably valve cover gaskets need replacing or just tightening. Also if it started suddenly after an oil change, the filter may be leaking, or you spilled oil on the manifold.
This MY & others had problems with both the cranshaft oil seal. The rear one leaks onto the exhaust and can make a horrible burning oil smell, notably when you stop after a long drive.
Head Gasket
Outbacks up to 2001 have issues with head gaskets, its a widespread problem. If the smoke is white and smells sweet it is coolant leaking into the pistons via a head gasket. Replace the head gasket before it fails. If you blow the head gasket it will ruin the engine.
Cam Seals
It is most likely the cam seals dripping small amounts of oil onto to the bottom of the engine block. When the engine warms up, it will burn the oil off.
