My 2000 olds bravada glove box door is stuck open the latch won't let me close it. Even though there is no way to lock it it seems locked! Do I need new latch or can I fix this one?

Your latch might be in the closed position before you even close the door, try using a small screwdriver on the latch while pressing the release button, if it's stuck closed then this will open it to the right position so it will lock closed when you close the door. If this does not work, sometimes the problem is in the striker (the little tab that the lock hits when the door is closed, this usually has 2 small screws holding it in place, you should be able to loosen both screws & adjust the striker forward or backward so the latch will make better contact with it.

Drivers door wont latch

I would try lube first. Cold weather can cause parts to get stuck.
Normally a door latch will outlast the car, but it could be wearing out.

Door open light will not go off after door is shut tight

there are sensors in the door latches themselves and over time they accumulate dirt and start to stick you can spray a little wd40 into the latch and then work the latch from open to close to do this use a screw driver hold the outside door handle open while working the screw driver into the latch open and closed you may have to repeat the process couple of times if it doesnt then the latch will need replaced

Passenger side door latch not engaging

I had the same problem. Unscrew the small screw holding in the backing and move it forward just a little and screw it back, that helped my issue. It only needs a 1mm or so adjustment, go figure. Good luck. And don't forget to keep a screwdriver in the glove box.

YJ wrangler door wont close

Start out by checking the latch mechanism on the door. Use a screwdriver to "trip" the latch with the door open, then pull on the screwdriver against the latch gate. If it doesn't hold then you may have a bad latch (the springs in the latch can go bad over time). You can also try spraying penetrating oil (PB Blaster) into the latch and again using a screwdriver to trip the latch, then open with the handle, and repeat several times to work the oil into the mechanism and free it up (this trick also sometimes works with the springs on wiper arms that have lost tension). If the penetrating oil trick works, think about spraying dry lube or white lithium grease into the latch to help prevent it from happening again. If the door is misaligned, consider new hinge bushings, a misaligned door can cause damage to the door, and put tension on the door latch in a direction that puts pressure on the latch that it wasn't designed for.

When i close the door on my 95 chevy corsica it doesnt close. it just bounces back. please help im a girl and my parents dont know so use small simple words please.

I think what has happened is that the door latch (the one in the door) has somehow closed and won't let the door shut normally.
Here's how it works. The door latch consists of two major parts. One is the short, round metal tube thing that is attached to the car body about halfway up where the door shuts. Inside the door there is a latch in a slot that lines up with round metal tube thing when you shut the door. I think what has happened is the latch has closed, not allowing the door latch to slide over the metal tube thing and close completely. If you look at the latch in the door slot you'll (hopefully) see what I mean. Now how to fix it.
You'll need a medium to large screwdriver and maybe some help from a friend. First, lift the outside door handle like you are going to open the door. Hold it up. Then, with the screwdriver, push the latch in the door slot UPWARD until it clicks and latches.
It is difficult to put this in words but it usually is an easy fix. No damage done to your car (unless you REALLY slammed the door hard numerous times..).
Please re-post with any questions.

Mini one drivers door window

there is most likely a button sensor that is stuck - if you don't open the door much - that will do it - try spraying WD40 on the door components along the door edge where the latch is - also try wd40 on the latch inside the door -- open and close it say 35 times and after 10 or so it should work - but still keep on til 35 - then do that 10 times a month -

1993 Ford Explorer, Driver side door does not close good

you need to adjust what is called the striker located on the actual vehicle body
looks like a round piece of metal sticking out with a star head in it called a torx head
move the stricker out towards the latch on the door a little not too muck or the door will not seal all the way when shut
