Check pass key circuit in steering column for open. a easy test is to install key with pellet, and check resistance value at the end of harness. this harness will have a bright orange color. may need to disasm C100 to access terminals.(large connector under dash by steering column). the value of the key should be close to the value at end of wires. if values are not close,(IE: OL or infinity) then replace ignition lock cylinder AND key. you will need to take original key when purchasing new one due to the special resistance value the key contains.(1 thru 15 different values!)
what happens is the lock cylinder has small wires that move everytime you turn the key,and eventually break causing theft system to "think" a theft attemt has occured, and disables crank or fuel delivery systems.

I have a 94 Chevy Camaro Z28 security light was on I reset system now security light don't come on in car will not crank

The security ( anti-theft ) system on that vehicle will not cause a no crank , depending on what you think a no crank is . Turning the key to start an nothing happens is a no crank - no start condition . Now if you turn the key to start an the starter engauges an spins the engine over but won't start an run ,this is a crank no start condition . Two different type problems all together . How did you reset system ? Disconnect the battery ?

Sounds like the anti theft system is active m try this process. Turn the key on. Do not attempt to start. Wait 10 minutes. Turn key off. Turn key on. Wit for theft light to go off. Now attempt to start.

I recently put a new alternator in my 1995 camaro. Now when i turn over the key the security light comes on and stays on solid (not flashing) The car won't start. I already tried bypassing the vats with...

The problem is your Vats security system. This causes the car to either "not start" or "shut down" while running. (depending on the system) If the security light flashes, i guarantee that this is what the problem is. 1st trick, turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. Cheap fix: ----- http://vats.likeabigdog.com/ ----- Bypassing the key Never worry again fix: -------- http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081 ----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey **** system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites

My car starts with no problems.but the security light stays on solid. It will not go away.I have tried everything. It is a 1998 Camaro Z28

security light on is the first sign of a faulty TDM or BCM. Same experience. There is a detailed write-up here: http://vatspasskey.com . I have a 94 Park Avenue and this was the only way I was able to save it.

How do I program my key for my 2006 Chevy Impala?

Add Duplicate Key (PK3 or PK3+ key)
1. Insert an existing key into the ignition cylinder.
2. Turn the ignition cylinder to ON (RUN) and back to OFF.
3. Remove the existing key and, within fifteen seconds, insert the new key
and turn it to ON (RUN).
4. The security light will light up for two seconds to indicate success in programming
the key into the vehicle.
Originate New Master Key (PK3 or PK3+ key)

1. Insert new key into ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON (RUN) position.
The security light on the dash will illuminate and stay on for ten minutes.
2. When the security light goes out, you have one minute to start the next
step. Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF and then back to the ON (RUN)
position. The security light on the dash will illuminate and stay on for ten
more minutes.
3. When the security light goes out, you have one minute to start the next
step. Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF and then back on the ON (RUN)
position. The security light on the dash will illuminate and stay on for ten
more minutes.
4. After the security light has gone off the third time, the key has been programmed
into the vehicle’s computer and will operate the car. It has replaced ALL the
previous electronic key codes and is the ONLY key programmed into the
vehicle’s computer.

Starter will not engage anti theft light is on it is a 2005 cobalt

I found this on a website try this

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "security" indicator
light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN)
position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes (Do not remove the key.)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON
(RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (Do not remove the key.)
4. When the light goes off the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start
the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use
an existing key to start the car.

Security light stays on, and car won't start.

leave key in "ON" position (not start) for EXACTLY 10 MINUTES! As SOON as the light shuts off, turn key and start key.

Every time you put key in, turn and start right away, DO NOT HESITATE.

There is a problem with the car's computer causing this problem IN ALL GM VEHICLES.
