Automatic I assume? Surely sounds like a Neutral Safety switch issue. A quick test is to see if when in Park or Neutral it has the same RPM Limit as your experiance the rest of the time. Hope this helps, let me know.

You are hitting the rev limiter top range, which cuts off your ignition.

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee and the problem drives me crazy, but it is the way the car is designed- as soon as you hit the rev limit, it shuts down ignition and your jeep will "buck" - a real pain when you are trying to accelerate into traffic!

You have the 4.0L straight six engine, yes?

If so, please take my advice and learn to live with the minor annoyance of the rev limiter- that engine is IMHO the best Chrysler ever made (nearly "bulletproof"!) and it was so reliable you cannot even get it in a jeep now! For decades, that engine was used in welders, tractors, generators...and yes, jeeps... and it is a favorite among mechanics for its durability!

Missing when you exceleate at a rapid pase it fills like the rev limiter is kicking in at about 3500 rpm i just replace the spark plugs in it excelerates smooth when you push the gas slow

Sounds like a clogged fuel pump. It can happen instantly with no warning. The fuel gets low enough to slow the speed of fuel that gets to the motor. making it hard to stay running when under heavier loads. Try replacing the fuel filter. Thanks for asking!

How do you remove the rev limiter in an 02 impala?

the rev limiter is not a part, it is built into the programming of the computer that runs the electronic fuel injection, some of the more popular performance cars can be programmed to change the rev limiter paremeters with after market software and modules but not this one, no one makes anything for this yet.

Ticking in motor, then stops for about a month, then starts ticking again. oil changed. in nuetral it wont rev past 3500 rpm

It wont rev past 3500 in driving?
The governer on these is set to NOT allow a higher rev when car is stopped and not in gear.
Try to change oil viscosity or filter manufacturer. Some filter manufactures put in a bypass valve that kicks in too early.

Fan kicking in too often 1998 f150 4x4 4.6 tow

If the engine is not over heating then it is doing its job. The constant cycling is based on the temp of the air traveling through the radiator and the a/c condenser not the outside temp so much. The start up high rev is just how these clutches work in ford fans. It sounds like it is operating correctly.

1)it will not go over 3500 rpm (2)when it first starts it runs a little better for a minute or so and then back to not idling (3)the codes said bad MAP sensor, bad O2 sensor (up stream)and problem in the...

I'd lean toward the MAP/MAF sensor because of the rev limit. A car with a bad O2 sensor will still rev to redline - it'll just be running rich the whole time. Some manufacturers put in a rev limiter that kicks in if the MAP/MAF sensor goes bad, so I'd lean that way first. Clean the electrical connector with contact cleaner, and run a half a can of Seafoam through the vacuum system - this may clear up your issues. If not, I'd replace the MAP/MAF sensor before the O2 sensor.

Run hard at 2500 rpm 96 nissan pickup 2.4 5 speed

I had a similar problem mine would hit a rev limiter at 3500 rpms. it would blow black sut out of the tail pipe. Ended up being mass air flow sensor/valorem sensor. almost 500.00 from nissan. fixed it though.
