Had an issue a few years back with a Dodge Dakota will run fine when a computer got hot it would shut down. I would take it and have it put on a scanner to see if there is any codes then go from there

Complete Electrical failure. fuses and battery good?

Sounds more like you have a bad alternator that is unable to keep the battery charged. Once the battery dies while driving, the spark plugs will no longer be able to ignite and the fuel won't burn, causing your engine to shut off. Some cars have a fuseable link between the battery and alternator that will burn out, or partially burn out causing the same symptoms and is a lot cheaper to replace. Check that first.

Shuts off while driving and doesn't restart

One of the most common causes would be a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When the sensor malfunctions, it overheats and stops sending a signal to the computer. If the sensor stops sending a signal to the ignition module, it will cause the car to shut off. Replacing the crankshaft position sensor should cure this problem. There are a lot of other possibilities such as a faulty ignition control module. When the car stalls suddenly while driving it is usually due to loss of ignition spark. Clean all the fuses in the main fuse box. Some of the fuses provide power to the ignition system. If you have poor fuse connections it can cause the problem also. If you need more help on how to repair your crankshaft position sensor I would suggest checking out this sites HowTo section

2001 v70 t5 wagon. auto all of a sudden dies while driving along. when i try to restart, battery is dead. no indicators or trouble codes are recorded in the system.

First thing would do is check just how securely the battery leads are attached to the battery. Next have a look at the earth strap from engine to car frame connections. A complete cut out as you describe can only occur if there is sudden complete shut down of the electrical system, this would also account for the ECU not recording trouble codes, it needs at least to be on before it can record anything. The next check point would be the main fuse and starter relay and then the starter switch itself; there has to be break/loose connection somewhere in the 'on' circuit. This is not a 'short' otherwise the main fuse would have blown.

2005 honda civic ex automatic stalled at 40 mph

Check the main fuses under the hood. There are several large ones there. A loose connection on one of them could have caused the sudden, complete electrical failure you described. If it is a loose connection, it would certainly explain why it "came back to life" by itself.

Also, might you possibly have any sort of aftermarket security system that has an immobilizer feature on it? While I wouldn't expect this to disable the entire car including the radio, if it were incorrectly installed I suppose it could.

I hope this help. Good luck!

Yes you have two fuel pumps, the main and a in tank fuel pump, not lightly both pumps die like this, check your fuses, you have an main 25amp fuse next to the batt, replace it check your fuses 6 and 4,also you have two relays(fuel pump) just under the glove box, replace them also. You can test these by,bypassing them. You can find an wire about 6in and jump your number 6 and 4 fuses,You should hear the pumps running.

94 hyundai excel suddenly shut off while driving

If you have towing insurance ( A lot of people do and don't know it-you can call your company) I'd have it towed off the road , which is the safe thing to do. Figuring out what is wrong could take a while.) You do need to get to a repair shop, unless you can work on it yourself. It could be the 02 sensor wires. Something to check.

FYI Towing insurance is only about $6-8 a YEAR which is totally cheap if you break down. I found this out after my first tow!

Thank you for using FixYA. Your rating is always appreciated.
