D light is flashing intermittenly. Started about a week ago. Not consistent yet. One day it flashes the next it doesn't. No check engine light. Car seems to be running OK.

I have the same problem with the D light. Can't figure out what causes it to start blinking. Blinks when CRV is in reverse and park, but as soon as you turn the engine off and on it resets itself and stops blinking. Took it to Honda who checked to see if any codes were stored, but there were none. Very strange. I don't know whether it's safe to drive with the light blinking or if there is something seriously wrong. It seems to drive fine.

Why do the reverse lights remain lit when the ignition is switched on and the suv is running. This happens in all gears. I removed the center console to look for the reverse light switch, and it seem

You may be looking in the wrong place. It is on the transmission. The switch must be pretty wimpy because it doesn't directly drive the reverse lights, but connects to a reverse light relay in the smart junction box. The relay could be stuck. Unplug the two wire connector at the transmission then turn the key to RUN and see if the reverse lights are still on. If they are on then the relay is stuck and needs to be replaced. If they are not on then the switch in the transmission is bad.

My rear driver-side turn signal and brake light aren't working (the reverse light does function). It started out as an intermittent problem, then it stopped completely. I replaced the bulbs, but that...

In the assembly in which the bulb is placed, there's a flat metal sensor that may be too far down. I had a similar problem -- when headlights were turned on, brake light didn't work. Weird.

Check engine light intermittently flashing, car jerking.

Could be fuel or electrical related. Since you may not know the history, this may take a while.
Any amount of smoke from exhaust? White, Blue, Black?
Start with most obvious and inexpensive:
1. Fuel filer clogged (replace fuel filter).
2. Could be the ECM (Electronic Control Module). It controls the ignition spark timing.
A few other things... consider other expert solutions...

1998 chevy lumina brake lights intermittent.

This is a classic example of turn signal switch failure. On GM vehicles with a multi-function turn signal switch and combination stop/turn/tail lights (all rear lights are behind red colored lenses except for back-up lights) The brake light power is routed through the turn signal switch. This makes it possible for the right rear light to function as a stop light while the left rear turn signal flashes, and vice-versa. When the contacts fail to remain constant the brake lights, and turn signals can become intermittent. The proof that the brake light switch is functioning correctly is that the high center (cyclops) brake light functions properly. Wiring integrity is verified if you can prove that turn signals operate, but that can still be intermittent with this complaint, BUT if you use your hazard switch to turn on all the signals at once, you can verify wiring integrity. This is because the turn signal, and the brake light use the same circuit, and bulb filament in the rear lighting assembly. If any Hazard lights fail to function, check bulbs first, then retest. If all Hazrd light flash correctly and reliably, bulbs, sockets, and wiring have proven integrity, and the turn signal switch is the remaining component in the system which needs to be tested. Unfortunately, this switch requires disassembly of the steering column for service, testing or replacement. If you have never disassembled, and successfully reassembled a GM tilt steering column, I would reccommend professional assistance.

Intermittent Flashing 4x4 Light

This was a weakness of the Montero Sport models. If you google Montero Sport 4WD light flashing you will find lots of information. The best troubleshooting article I have found is here: This article is about the Pajero, but the Montero Sport uses the same platform so this article applies.

The Montero Sport uses several switches and vacuum modules to put the system in and out of 4WD. If any of these malfunction, the light may flash continuously, flash intermittently, fail to come on, and it can trigger the anti-lock brake light to come on. In brief, if the 4WD shift lever is engaged, but the transfer case doesn't engage, the sensors show a mismatch and will cause the light to act funny including triggering the vehicle's anti-lock break light. These SUV's need to be shifted into 4WD regularly to keep the switches and mechanisms working correctly.

Try this before you even think about a visit to the $$$$$ Mitsubishi Dealer:
Shift the 4WD lever between 4WD High, Low and 2WD at least 100 times. Often, this will free the mechanisms and resolve the problem. It worked for me after three years of trying everything else including the dealer replacing switches, etc. If this does fix it for you, just be sure to shift the vehicle in and out of 4WD several times at least one a week and this will keep the mechanisms lubricated and functioning correctly. If that doesn't work, try the above link (article). Good luck!
