Question about 1998 Ford Explorer
My neighbor told me his timing chain has been diagnosed as being noisy and needs to be replaced. My question is how hard is it to replace and what kind of time are we talking? He told me that someone told you have to pull the engine? Yes? No?
Yes you have to pull they engine to get at the timing chain sprocket and the chain casette bolt( for the r h side, this is the most common side.personally i would not worry about i people that have the same problem and the run forever without failure.ps if you do this yourself you need special cam tools.

What engine do you have? if it is a 4.0 V6 then there is a recall for new cam chain tensioners to address the noise issue.
