Would all (4) switches go at the same time or would it most likely be a single switch?

  • jhager123 Sep 18, 2008

The small lights on each of the (4) switches on the driver's door are lit and are getting power. None of the switches in the car are working. With the windows down at the moment, it makes me happy that I live in a major metropolitan area...

There is no fuse listed in either of the boxes. I was told there was a circuit breaker for this component and not a fuse

Good day, Are all the power windows not working? If it is, then you're right, it is the fuse. But if not, then it could be the power window motor. Did the function of the windows become weaker by the day before it ceased to function? If so, the motor may need replacing. You may also take out the motor to check if it is functioning. It may be just the bolts screwed in too tight.

It is most definitely the fuse that's busted. This usually has only one fuse for all of the windows and if it is busted then all four windows would stop working. There's also a chance that the wires are burnt out so you might want to test that also using a multi-tester

Make sure it's not the switches, over the years I have replaced far more power window switches than I ever have fuses.
Try and remove the switches and then check with a multimeter or a simple bulb and two wires rigged up to see if you have power at the switches.

    Two things spring to mind.

    1. Bad cooector block in the wiring harness going to the switches (especially if they are located next to one another like an arm rest)

    2. Have you had any electrical work done lately like a new radio or something, is anything else not working?

    "typo"

    Conector block

What kind of fuse do I need on my 1999 Mercedes Benz ML320 for the power windows? All of them suddenly stopped working and I think the fuse may have blown?

So, if you think you blew the fuse, replacing it will likely find you with 2 blown fuses. Try benzworld.org. This site has a wealth of information and extremely knowledgeable people on their forums. I'm pretty sure your fuse box is under the hood on the drivers side though.

Where is the window fuse box

The fuse box is under the dash, drivers side, towards the left. The window fuse is a 30 amp that powers both windows.

There are lots of other reasons these Capri windows stop working, from bad switches to broken motor regulators.

If the fuse does not fix it, post again and we can figure out what is wrong...Chris

Where is the power window fuse in 2008 saturn outlook

One or all power windows not working ? They use a circuit breaker , PWR/ WNDW 25amp . located in the I/P - instrument panel fuse box . Fuse Block - I/P
Under the lower right side of the instrument panel ! If just one window isn't working it's not a fuse problem .

All 4 of my power windows stopped working, and i can't find anything about a power window fuse in my manual

Power window usually don't have a fuse but an automatically resetting breaker. If all four windows stopped working at the same time check the body control module that is what manages the power windows. Good luck.

The power windows sopped working. Cant find a fuse marked power windows in fuse box. What am I donig wrong?

I would take a test light to each side of the fuses with ign switch turned on, if you have a fuse that lights up on one side only that is the fuse that is blown, you can see the little metal on each fuse, 2 spots, that is where you touch it with the test light.

Power window will not close. do you think this could be a fuse problem. found fuses in glove box where is fuse box under hood?

If it is only 1 window,it is unlikely a fuse as it would control all windows and probably 1 or 2 more systems. The fuse box under the hood should not be an issue either since it is a very high power controller and is called a power distribution box.If the window has an option to be operated by more than one switch and does not work with either the motor is probably bad.If it is the driver window and has only a switch to control that particular window I can tell you a fairly simple way to determine what is wrong. If it is a different window which can be operated by 2 separate switches,I would say the window motor. If you would like more help or I did not get the scenario correct, please write back and I will get an auto link to your post and we'll figure it out.Good luck!
