I have a 1997 audi a4. The dashboard lights have started to go dim and have gotton to where you can barely see them at night.

Mark, do you have a second Key you can try, other wise it may be a trip to some tech. that can rest security.

Your oil pressure is low. It could be your oil pump going bad or you could be just a bit low on oil. Be sure and top off the oil with a good synthetic oil, or, to be safe, get the oil changed (could also be sludge).

Probably just a couple bad bulbs.

Does your ignition turn?

For Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand drive vehicles). Driver's door open. On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.

Loose connector at back of dash.

loss of power sure car is breaking !!! some of the abs sensor broken or dirty

ok have a look under the dashboard and you will see a small round metal container with i think 4 wires going into it that is the indicator unit replace that and see if that works hope this helps regards Jim

i have replaced my dimmer roller switch to solve my problem with the dash bord light flickering and dimming by them selfs .. that or just flip (smack) the roller switch for temp inprovement untill you decide to install a new dimming switch..?

my 97 a4 would start and then die, i had it diagnosed as the immobiliser in the dashboard costing about £600 !!! The battery went flat trying to start it so i took it off the car and charged it up, when i put it back on the car before i took it to get fixed i thought i would try it 1 more time and "hey presto" it started and ran and has not missed a beat since ! That was 2 years ago, it was like the computer had re-set itself with the battery removed for charging, i hope this may be of some help.
