Jetta won't start

Engine won't turn over. Clicking noises and panel lights flash on and off. Battery was replaced one month ago.

I have the same no start problem. We also have a new battery. All the lights work and everything seems to be well lit as far as electricity but when you turn the key...nothing. Not even any clicks, that you would normally hear if the battery was low.

I did try and jump it but still nothing when you turn the key.

    Any idea where to begin?

Engine tries to turn over- RUM, click / dashboard lights click, flash on and off, RUM, repeat. I recently cleaned out a door nipple due to water on the passenger side floor. The problem is totally related to something I did. Can't tell where to start now though.

I had the same problem when i replaced my battery.
1: unplug the battery
2: put key in ignition and turn to Aux Mode (that is the last click befor you turn the car on) Not all the way as if your turning the car on! Do not remove key! leave it in the ignition.
3. Hook up the battery and it will reset the computer. (wait for a few seconds)
4. Turn car on!

Sounds like a bad cell in the new battery or you are having charging problems. Also possible you have a loose connection, corrosion on your battery and/or starter.......

a good place to begin!

battery should have at least 12 VDC (measured by a voltmeter) and 13.8 VDC when charging [120% of battery value].

You can easily get a :jump" and take it to a car part store. They usually have diagnostic equipment to determine if your alternator and/or battery are failing or at fault and they do this for free.

Car won't start. it tries to turn over, but just doesn't .battery replaced several months ago so it's not that. The red "GEN" light pops up. Is that the generator signal? Manual doesn&

Interesting. They haven't used generators in over 50 yrs.
But yes that was the warning light for the generator.
If you have a volt meter that would tell you what the system is doing.
If the engine will not crank, and the battery is fully charged, you would need to check the connections at the starter for voltage and ground.
And the red warning lights would normally come on until the engine starts.

2012 VW Jetta TDI battery won't hold charge and car only clicks and won't start

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.

Car won't start, but make clicking noise

Sounds like you might need a new starter. If the lights and radio still come on, then you may need a new battery.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Ignition troubles

unplug connector at ignition switch, bridge terminal 30 [battery power] on connector and terminal 50 power to starter solenoid. engine should turn over. plastic ignition switch can wear and not make contact. at times the lug on ignition barrel that turns the switch breaks off.

Wont turn over

The starter is most likely the problem, tap on the starter lightly with a hammer while trying to start the engine, dont get run over doing this it will take two people,if the engine starts, the starter needs replacing.

I have a 1997 dodge stratus with a 2.4 liter engine...the check engine light has been on for a while and about a month wouldn't start...its time to get it back on the road...when i turn the...

the clicking noise is from the starter solenoid. It is not receiving enough power to move the starter drive gear to the flywheel. If the battery was charged fully the solenoid will engage the drive gear to the flywheel to start

Clicking noise from my engine when i attempt to start my jetta 4 1999

check the battery. charge it or get some one to help you jump it. if it still does it check the battery terminals for corrosion. clean and tighten firmly. if it still does it, you need a starter.
