When your check engine light comes on, you should use a scan tool to check your computer for trouble codes. Damage can occure depending on the reason for getting trouble codes. you can buy a scan tool at cdn tire for about $100- $150...just make sure it is compatable with your vehicle....it is very simple to use, just follow the instructions...the scan tool can also clear all trouble codes in your computer (ECM).

The car uphill obvious weakness, engine power performance Descent

This is probably due to not cause prolonged oil changes, oil filter, air filter causing incomplete combustion of fuel, increased engine deposits and other issues.
Recommended oil, oil filters, each with about 5,000 km to be replaced once, air filter and oil filter every 10,000 km driving needs to be replaced, otherwise the air, fuel and oil impurities cause parts wear and clogging the oil, thus affecting the normal operation of the engine.

Oil leak 2000 alero, just replaced plug, not it, leaked out all the oil after I drove it 20 miles, please help, could it be a gasket or what

Check the oil filter. The old gasket might be stuck on the engine (two gaskets stuck together), or the new gasket might be defective, misaligned or missing.

I had the oil changed on my 2001 Ford Taurus a couple days ago, they also changed the air filter. Just yesteday the cars engine light came on steady not blinking. The car seems to be running fine. What...

Can be that the oil pressure sensor has a loose connection at the terminal or that the pressure switch is faulty.
You will have to check this out, replace if faulty.
Hope the oil filter was also changed as you have not mentioned.

May be a little late but...check your oil filter for the long type not the shorter version for vw..With my 97 a4 if the smaller filter is installed at a lube shop it will set the oil light off. They both fit the audi but the smaller one lacks the oil capacity and starves the engine and sets the light off.Even a autoparts store clerk can make the same mistake as ive been there. they are said to be for the same application but are not.
napa #1191 is correct for the 2.8 is the long oe version.

A week ago i had all of my car oil change then after that week the oilpan light came up and it is steady red is not blinking sone time it goes away and then it come back what could be

hi, the oil light in your vehicle comes on to let you know that the oil pressure or level is low. sounds like the oil change was performed, but the oil level was not returned(not filled) correctly, or not filled at all. also a possibility that the oil leaked out from a leaking oil filter or drain plug. you should check the oil level on the dipstick before you drive again. if it is low, or empty, the engine will likely blow very soon. fill the oil if it is low until it shows on the dipstick. then top off until on the full mark. or, call the shop that performed the oil change and have them tow your vehicle back to have it serviced correctly. you should be upset at this fact, there should never be a time when you just have your oil changed and the oil light comes on soon after. this generally tells you that your vehicle was not serviced properly.

Oil light blinking

there is always the possibility that you really have low oil pressure when you get this light, at idle the engines oil pump produces the least pressure and if there are problems then that is when it shows up, so have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a mechanical test gage, if the oil pressure is within spec then replace the oil pressure light sending unit on the engine, I don't recommend you drive this until u are sure of the pressure, u can SEVERELY damage the engine is the pressure is really low.

CHeck engine AND VSA light came on in my car 2003 Highlander

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Without knowing the actual 'code' (the reason for the light being on), it is hard to state with any accuracy.

However...we see quite a bit, here in my shop, Highlanders with the Check Engine light on, right after an oil change. Often, whoever changes the oil sometimes checks the air filter, and, when they open the filter box, they knock off a vacuum hose going to the air filter box. This could be your problem.

Go out to the vehicle, pop the hood, and check the black box that holds the air filter, on the passenger side front of the engine compartment; look to see if a black rubber hose is not connected. If it is off, reconnect it and drive the vehicle 10 miles, shut it off, and drive another 10 miles. This may extinguish the light.

I hope that this info helps you out. Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

The VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF lights come on everytime the CHECK ENGINE light comes on. I think you just need to get the light reset.

2001 cheve venture (service engine soon) trouble light on

If ou fixed whatever happened during the oil change, the light will cycle off after about 3 drive cycles.

The check enine light just tells you that you are not meeting emissions right now. Only be concerned if it's flashing. That means you are sending unburned fuel to your catalytic converter whih will overheat and self destruct.

Look for a vacuum hose disconnected and check all the onnections to sensors such as, vehcile speed control sensor, mass air flow sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft poition sensor, throttle position sensor, etc. Good luck.
