Hve you run it out of fuel or changed the filter lately? diesels need fuel, air and compression to run.check your air filter too. that would not stop it from running but would produce nasty black smoke without load

SUZUKI SUV Grand Vitara diesel glow light on and there is loss of power

no year told , nor country.
sold all over earth with lots of different engines,
my guess in Europe
1988 to1998.
or
1999 t0 2005
2.0 L RF/RFM I4 turbo-diesel
2.0 L RHW/RHZ I4 turbo-diesel
2005 to 014

1.9 L F9Q I4 turbo-diesel
2015 up
1.6 L D16AA DDiS I4-TD

no telling year, country , and which diesel is here, makes answers
10x more hard. so now I go GENERIC and vague.

  1. bad fuel, now filters are bad. , water in fuel or worse./
  2. clogged air filter.
  3. injectors clogged.
  4. newer diesels, have EFI sensors that can be bad.
  5. injection pump bad or messed with and fails.
  6. engine compression fails. (a test)
  7. tank lift pump bad,
  8. and more but no engine or year told.

Jeep grand cherokee V6 with Mb diesel engine losing power under acceleration trouble code description turbo boosting to low.

cute no year, no country stated then posts to usa forum.
we dont have this car. here. i think.
so are you asking how to diagnose turbo issues, on fixya
that be like asking how to do brain surgery on , Mr, PHIL
the PCM may see the boost too low for load and RPM.
so, that can be lots of things, besides a bad turbo cant spool.
even a stuck open waste gate.
or controls issues,
best is to get a complex car serviced, by someone that can work complex turbo diesels,

if serious on DIY, why not buy the book on the car
the FSM
then see the turbo section and do the tests stated there.
if that sounds hard, it is,

4jh1 engine. What is the tappet clearance?

diesel 4J, and we dont have them in here (USA)
no year stated (the books come in years first) even used today.
in direct injected diesels and turbo.
no car stated. must we guess that?
there are four 4jh1 classes
The 4JH1-T is a 3.0L OHV direct injection engine, turbo intercooled

The 4JJ1-TC is a DOHC 16V 3.0L common rail direct injection engine with turbo and intercooler

The 4JJ1-TCX is a DOHC 16V 3.0L common rail direct injection engine with VGS-turbo and intercooler.

the no dash , this one?
The 4JX1 is a 3.0L direct injection diesel engine, turbo, some intercooled,

if you search on fixya
you find this
http://www.clubisuzu.com/viewforum.php?f=23

ask them,

the old 4Ja and JB are, 0.4mm. cold.
4JJ1 is .15mm

here is a link to the -TC version
http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=123562

shows. .4mm
all rumor (cuz we dont have them here, so no books)
building engines on rumor, is over the top for me.

04 diesel toyota landcruiser, no power when I accelerate. only revs to about 1500rpm. diesel and filters clean.

well it runs,,,,,
low power on a diesel is
1: low compression
2: bad fueling
#2 can take forever to find, if you dont know what engine it is or what fuel system was used.. no country stated, so cant guess
read the wiki on land cruiser and see what you have.
we dont know.

series 80?
series 100,200 ??? what?

one of those last 4? engines?
once there, we try to find out how it works. each varies.
can fix engines with out knowing exactly what it is, and the injection system, used.
cant.
