Battery is fine, starter is fine, lots of fuel pressure, spark is there. Going to purchase a Haynes to change the timing belt (Should be done anyhow) and a code reader to ensure that there are no bad sensors (Crank or Cam). When it "tries" to start it backfires a bit. Cranks fine though, just won't start.

-   I have the same problem also. It got very cold here (-40ish) and it has not started ever since. I put it inside of my garage, heated it to above freezing (suspected frozen gas line) and still wouldn't start. Did a number of basic checks and seem to have it narrowed down to the timing being a bit off.
Solved problem today - purchased a Toyota.-   DolbyC

it is probably the starter assuming the engine isnt locked up. I would check to see if you have battery voltage at the starters solenoid wire with the key in the start position if you do i would check the fuses and starter relay
