my gearbox is over revving and won't shift into 3rd or 4th, its an auto gearbox, was wondering if it was the fluid levels and where do i put the fluid in

my car is honda civic 2002 with a 4 speed gearbox. I need to rev up to 3,500rpm to get 110km/h in malaysia highway. My problem is on and off which mean it need to cruise at 110km/h for 50 km to allow the gear box automatic change to 4th gear. However, the problem come again when I had a hard slam on the paddle or going uphill. and again I need to cruise up to 50km to get the 4th gear. I go to authorised Honda service center and the boss there ask me to change the gear box because it is slipping. What do he means by slipping?

Hi if the it is the box over reving the check the fluid level first but i suspect the torque converter locking clutch is faulty causing its stater to not locking the turbine and pump in at the correct speed as for 3-4 gears the clutchs are slpiping or you have faulty solenoids on that hub assembly. either way it looks like you are going to take it to a garage as it is not a do it yourself fix it may well be worth checking the kick down cable as it would if maladjusted cause a simular problem yates210456

Why does my Charade lose power when accelerating from a stationary position or going up hills

Drain your system fluid. Remove your gearbox oil pan. Clean or replace gearbox oil filter. Refill with oil and retry.
If problem persists, then replace/recondition automatic gearbox

I have a 2007 X3 BMW 2.5 Automatic BMW and had a blown out tyre on the right rear, forcing me to drive about 30km on the narrow spare wheel. Then fitted 2 10% used tyres to rear, same size but slightly...

For legal reasons the tyres on your vehicle must be of all the same profile . That is for example if you have 195- 75 15 on the car you must have all 195-75 15 on the car. You cannot have 195-75 15 on the front and 195-45 15 on the rear. IT is not just a bit smaller it lowers that rear of the car by 30mm. However it may cause the problem but I would expect it to happen in all gears . I suspect that the engine RPM's ares hanging on a bit and not reducing sufficiently for when the clutch is again for second gear. There is a large ratio change from 1 to 2 and less so for the remainder. Run fault codes to check for idle sensor/ accelerator position problem sensor.;

My peugeot 306 1.8 automatic gearbox does not switch ?

You have a failed transmission, have it removed and replaced with a factory rebuilt unit is my advice.

My 2000 passat just started making a loud noise when i accelerate and it seems like its moving slower in acceleration and reving higher

my good friend I believe the solution I give might be not good for you as to what you state It sounds that you are loosing your automatic gear box. Have you ever changed the oil & filter of your Gear box? If not that was the reason.

When I accelerate the rpms go up but it takes a couple of seconds for the power to get to the tires

Sounds like a slipping clutch or transmission depending if its a manual or an automatic geared car.
If its a manual with a slipping clutch it will slip worse when in a higher gear going up hill. It will sound like the car is reving higher the the car is moving. If it is the case the clutch assembly will require replacement which involves removal of the gearbox. If its an auto and does the same thing check the fluid level at the dipstick.Top up if low and rectify leaks, If its not low and the fluid smells burned or is brown you should take it to an automatic transmission specialist to have it checked out. Drive light indicator flashes while driving!

Hi, if the light is flashing that means there is trouble code or codes set in the transmission control module.you need to get it to a shop were they can retieve these codes and fix the problem before you cause any further damage to your transmission by driving it in its current condition. it may be in limp mode.
It indicates a possible problem in the transmission. Avoid rapid acceleration and have the transmission checked by an authorized Honda dealer as soon as possible. The malfunction indicator lamp may come on along with the "D4" indicator if there is a problem in the automatic transmission control system.

The drive light flashes

Standard manual advice is:
The ‘‘D’’ indicator comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to ON (II). If it flashes while driving (in any shift position), it indicates a possible problem in the transmission.
If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on along with the ‘‘D’’ indicator, there is a problem in the automatic transmission control system. Avoid rapid acceleration, and have the transmission checked by your dealer as soon as possible.
Hope this at least helps you know there might be a problem.
