Door locks I have a 2001 cadillac sts. The doors unlock when you put the car in park. My husband when in the passenger seat seems to have a problem with waiting and tried opening hte door before I went to park. Now the lock is "stuck". We cannot get it to release. Can anyone help me. I am really bummed about this and do not have the funds to get it fixed. It seems there has to be a simple solution, but I found nothing in the manual. Thanks for any help and guidance.

Do you hear any noise from the doors when you try to unlock?

Adjust seat and steering to comfortable position press set and 1 on drivers door,position will be put into memory. put seat and steering into position that it is easy to get out of car, press exit 1 and the exit position will be in memory. do same procedure for driver 2.

I checked all the fuses and relays and all are in good shape???????
Did you check the correct one's ,that's the question ? And did you use a voltmeter or test light to check across the correct fuse's ? And how did you check the relay's ????? Videos on youtube on how to test a relay ! And using a wiring diagram or power flow diagram that shows all componets of the none working systems ., Plus you need to know how the thing's work . Data communication network is involved in the working of these thing's , Data messages from module to module !

• Various controls for the interior lamps

Just looking at fuse's and relay's isn't enough ! Hooking up a factory scan tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in all the vehicle control modules is always the first step . Which fuse boxes did you check ? Do you know there is a fuse box under the back seat ?

The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.
Your best bet , take it to the dealer !

Because the FOB is working the other two other things it can be are the fuses that control it, or the power lock control moduel. The fuses can be repaired easily, so I would attempt that first. The control moduel, however, I would take to a repair shop. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

lock linkage either broke or popped off or problem with lock actuator will need to take off door panel to gain access for repair or replace

if it cranks over try taking the door opener key fb and locking and unlocking the the doors a couple of times to resince it

This is the anti theft function working as it should. Your husband needed to override it with the key. The command told the car to lock down. Because the key was not in the car the anti theft set off the alarm and locked down the engine as well.
This is exactly what you would want the car to do if you left it locked on the street with your windows down while shopping. Otherwise someone could reach in the window, unlock the door, slide in and start hot wiring the car.
These lock functions are programmable and can be changed at the dealership.

There is NOT a mechanical connection to the outside door handles on the front doors. There is an electronic "door popping solenoid" This is a electronic problem. I think there was a recall on this.

sounds like that rear door lock will also not unlock with the switch either, correct ? It might lock , but not unlock. Door lock actuator needs to be replaced.
