2007 Fit stutters when put in gear when in park ideals great new plugs in it it seems like it has a miss fire on one of the plugs

  • Anonymous Jul 17, 2016

I had the same issue. It would "chug" or "stutter" or "misfire", however you want to describe it. It would occur when cruising on the highway, or sitting at a light. It starts in the 60K mile range or later. Mine started in the 80k range.
The easiest fix is to buy all new Coils (4) and new plugs (4). Buy them from Rockauto.com. Buy the options that say OEM Item or something like that.

Rock Auto has very good/fair prices. You can do this yourself...It is EASY! Look at a YouTube video....it is very straight forward and NOTHING is in the way. There is one plug you need a Universal and an extension, but still quite easy to get to. It took me 25-30 minutes.

If you take it to the dealer, they will give you all kinds of potential reasons and say they don't know what it is. If you go on a Honda Forum, EVERYONE has this issue...that is where I got the answer.

RESULT: The car ran perfectly ever since with NO RETURNING ISSUE (~15K since I made the change)

    Good luck.

    Greg

2.2L > AT > from 30mpg to 9mg in 4k miles- no codes- no leak found- pump is fine- new filter- used lucas fuel injector cleaner 3k miles ago- now when making U turn car stutters like it doesn't know how to...

check that the car rolls freely
no brake drag or stuck parking brake
which pump is fine the transmission or the fuel pump? stuttering on a u turn would lead me to a fuel pump issue
could this also be from old spark plugs or a combination of two minor issues at the same time since that is a large drop in economy

1993 talon starts fine runs great in park when you put it in gear it stutters and if you step on the gas it stalls

HI, if you haven't replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, i would recommend this ASAP. there seems to be a blockage in the filter that is causing your pump to burn out. i also recommend changing the air filter as well.

Mazda MPV 2004 - Stutters, check engine light came on

chances are fairly good it's the coils - I've posted about this on Edmunds. the OEM design is truely idiotic & has a vent that allows moisture down into the plug well - that shorts the spark & causes misfires. On our 2004 MPV I got away w/cleaning & drying them extremely carefully then sealing the vent w/silicone as a temp measure, then ordered perfect replacement after-market coils off ebay that sealed the wells & stopped the problem -and- were a tiny fraction of the OEM price.  good luck, BK
