Worn clutch and clutch lever wire needs adjusting.

  • Anonymous Oct 21, 2008

In response to the second query, it is more likely that the cable needs adjusting because of clutch plate wear. The pressure plate is fairly robust for the small power it has to handle. Of course clutch plates do wear out and need replacing at some point along with refacing the pressure plate and flywheel.

The clutch cable/wire is adjusted by moving the cable circlip at the clutch lever, in the engine bay. If there is already too much stretch, you can pack the cable out with a few washers or replace the cable.

When I Press clutch pedal to change the gear,I hear clicking sound from inside of steering and clicks from the inside of gear box.

Noises like this must be heard, you need the dealer to take a listen or a well qualified shop that repairs your make of car.

Loud snapping noise heard when changing gears

From the way you've described it your gear stick linkages maybe on there way out. When changing gear does the car resist getting into gear?

If it's more of a crunching sound then I would try double de clutching, to do this you need to:
change gear as usual but instead of holding down the clutch throughout the gear change hold it down to take the vehicle into neutral then release the clutch then push the clutch down again and change into desired gear.
To change down it's basically the same principal but you push down the clutch to put the vehicle into neutral then push the throttle down just to pitch revs then release the throttle and push the clutch down to change into your desired gear, if it won't go in to gear easily then rather the throttle until it does.

You can go onto youtube and search for double de clutching and I'm sure some results will come up

hope this helps!

The appears to be no clutch on my 2004 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. I had it to one mechanic who said that the starter is getting a signal and there is 12V at the starter but it will not start. The clutch feels...

there is a safety switch on the clutch system that means you have to put you foot on the clutch before it will start
from your description if it is hydraulic clutch , then there is a slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder problem or if cable clutch , a cable problem
either system can just fail

slipping clutches will not allow the car to go anywhere so that is not the problem
trouble engaging or changing gears indicates a clutch control problem

03 Toyota mr2, clutch noise. clutch replaced a year prior. 2 weeks before i heard some noise when shifting. 1 week before it was hard to shift a few times. then one night after driving home i parked and...

I hope its your release bearing, but I had this same issue with my Audi and it turned out to be I need a new transmission, the gears are not catching it sounds like. your synchros may also be off. Does it do this in every gear, and once it does move, does the clutch slip?

Hi, peugeot 206 clutch/engine problem..

It seems like the clutch pressure plate has given in. Best would be to replace the clutch pro-kit.( Clutch pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing)

2003 Hyundai Tiburon making a weird noise

Hello mpolci...The 2003 Tiburon was sold to the public with a defective clutch, it failed due to warpage and bad pressure plate... among other things. There are MANY class action lawsuits. Did you resurface or replace the flywheel when the clutch was replaced? Did you go with an aftermarket clutch kit, or factory? Also the slave cylinder on the 03 was known to have a defective valve.
You can try checking the levels and bleeding the system and if you still have problems, then it could be a release bearing, a loose clutch pad, or a broken pressure plate spring....If the clutch is still under warranty, i would return it to the installer.
Good luck, i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.
