Question about 1991 Toyota Pickup

1991 Toyota Pickup Leaks oil

My girlfriends 91' Toy 3.0L is leaking a lot of oil. I believe it is coming from the head gasket or at the exhaust manifolds.

Does anyone know the torque settings for the heads and manifolds for this year Toyota?

Any recommendations on taking the engine apart to replace them?

Anyone else have this problem?

if its a head gasket take to a mechanic its a big job and requires some skills the head has to be removed and if you do that then I suggest you take the head to a machine shop so the can check it out you also have to buy a new bolt kit. clean the engine off then put a piece of cardboard under it and leave it over night in the morning check to see where the oil is leaking onto the cardboard you might have a front seal leak or real seal leak

1991 toyota pickup, overheating problem, there is water that I know getting into the oil. I just bought a new head and gasket plus the timing cover gasket as well. ran it today and still blowing water in...

Coolant or water in the oil can be from a head gasket leak, but it can also be an intake manifold gasket or a crack in the block or head etc. I would begin by removing the spark-plugs and then pressurizing the cooling system and checking each cylinder for signs of coolant entering them. If the cylinders stay dry and coolant goes into the oil during the test you most likely have an intake gasket that's leaking. Don't run thee engine with coolant in the oil or you'll have catastrophic damage!

Where is the fuel filter on a 1991 chevrolet silverado 2500 and there is rust on my dipstick, water in oil,is that blown head gasket?

Hello kromebt56: My name is Roger and I will help you. The fuel filter is located on the left frame rail. Should be just under the cab tucked inside of the frame. As for the rust on the dipstick. This could be caused by condensation off of the exhaust system. If you are losing coolant from the radiator and do not see any on the ground. I would suspect the intake manifold gasket as leaking. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

How do i tell if the heads creaked on a 91 celica

a cracked head or blown head gasket, will cause your vehicle to have a miss in the cylander where the crack is or where the gasket is blown. you can also see coolant leaking if the gasket is blown. you can also see water in the oil,and white smoke come from the exhaust.
to tell for sure that the head is cracked, and not just a blown gasket is to remove the head. you will instantly see if the gasket is blown. if its not, then turn the head upside down and look at the small space between the valves,as this is where 99% of cracks occur.

You might check for exhaust in the coolant ... perhaps you have a small head gasket leak that is the problem.

Water in cylinders of a 1990 nissan pickup 4cyl in cylinders 1,2, and 3. no water in oil. know the problem?

Head gasket, it doesn't care which way it leaks, it could be getting blown out when running but seeping in when not running. Is there steam coming out the exhaust? Is it overheating? A compression check will tell you what is going on. Radiator shop will do it for you. Hope this helps.

I'm losing water out of my radiator but i can't see that it is leaking any where. I'm not sure where the water pump is. For some reason, the water seems to leak out of the over flow when it is hot.

check your radiator cap condition if its ok then your engine must be having a cylinder head gasket problem, normally when engine overheats the cylinder head gasket gets fried-up and the water goes off to the exhaust along with the exhaust gas thats why u dont see any trace of leakage on the floor/ check your engine oil as well if oil and water mix together to conclude the theory.

Engine sputters at times when driven up hills or in the hot weather.

Sounds like a head gasket is cracked, any water in oil? That will make oil look like muddy water. Any oil leaks under vehicle? Trace to see if coming out from under head on side of engine block.

Lose power in a head wind?

You may never see signs of leaks or water in oil, it could be a crack of gasket allows combustion power to flow from one cylinder to the adjacent cylinder.

My 1991 Isuzu Rodeo had this problem, it is an 8 hour fix and a couple of days wait after you take head into shop to be milled. Then 4 hours to put back together, very simple to do yourself, but you need a Chilton Manual from local auto store, otherwise $1200.00 to have a good shop fix for you.
