Re: check engine light is on
P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow
or large leak)
What does that mean?
This indicates a fuel vapor leak or lack of purge flow in the EVAP control
system. It means a large leak has been detected. The (EVAP) emission control
system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel
vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the
engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon
the fuel vapors into the engine.
You likely won't notice any drivability problems.
A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system
With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and
see if the codes come back.
Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum
noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

each coil and injector have a reference wire that sends a code to the computer if num 1 misfire is coded it registers it and then whenit goes on its 2 time around and it still has the same reference it lights up the check engine light to erase it you need scanner if not able unplug battery if comes back you have to check plugs, coils, wires, or just the connectios at the ignition harness in the engine
sometimes this light is 'timed' and comes on after a given number of kilometers and can easily be reset.... but if you are refering to your 'check engine light' you may have a bigger problem and you need a code reader (OBDII) and then you can determine where the fualt is
Cycle key, on, off, on, off, on. Leave on, and count flashes of check engine light. Will be flashes, pause, flashes which is 2 digit numbers. For example, flash, flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, is code 32. flash, pause, flash flash, is code 12. See what you get, and get back to us.
