Question about 2000 Isuzu Rodeo

2 Answers

Emissions problem I just had the fuel pump replaced because of a bad sending unit. Within a month the check engine light came on and the code said that the EGR valve was clogged. I noticed a definite lack of power in the acceleration of the car. I had the EGR valve replaced along with a fuel service to increase gas mileage. Now the check engine light is coming on saying that evaporated emissions are low, the oxygen sensor was low? The car is barely accelerating(very slowly) but is fine once it is above 30mph. It has even stalled out like it wasn't getting gas. I am getting about 60 miles to the tank less than before. The codes are reading that the engine is running lean. The problem is getting worse.

Try cleaning the mass air flow connection plug with electrical contact cleaner then plug it back in after its dry. worked for me after i had the same symptoms in my 99 rodeo.

I have a 1995 4.3L W blazer runs good till it warms up then the gas pedal quits working and it kills the engine

I had a 1997 and 1998 Blazer. They both had issues with the fuel sending unit, so I bought a fuel pump with a sending unit. The fuel pump could be an issue. Any engine codes? Check engine light? Have heard of issues with the fuel pump and sending unit, so it might need checking. I had to clean the EGR valve, too. Just saying.

What is needed for complete tune up?

  • Replace spark plugs

  • Replace rotor

  • Check distributor cap (replace if necessary)

  • Check timing (adjust if necessary)

  • Check ignition wires (replace if necessary)

  • Check ignition performance (firing voltage and ignition patterns)

  • Check idle speed (adjust if necessary)

  • Check choke (carbureted engines)

  • Clean fuel injectors

  • Check compression and/or power balance (identifies bad fuel injectors as well as compression problems)

  • Check manifold intake vacuum (reveals exhaust restrictions)

  • Check battery/charging voltage

  • Check exhaust emissions (verifies fuel mixture, ignition performance and emissions performance)

  • Check vehicle computer for trouble codes

  • Install new air filter

  • Replace fuel filter

  • Replace PCV valve

  • Check all emission controls (EGR valve, air pump, etc.)

  • Check all vital fluid levels (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brakes, power steering)

  • Check belts and hoses

  • Check safety items such as lights, wipers, tires (including inflation pressure), horn, etc.

Low engine oil pressure on a 1997 cadillac catera. I suspect the sending unit. Would like to check with a manual gauge. Where to tap in to engine oil pressure?

in order to check the oil pressure, you have to remove the oil sending unit, then screw in the adapter of the oil pressure gage, and then remove the start relay or fuel pump relay from the fuse and relay box, under the hood on the drivers side, and then crank the engine over 3-4 turns, and then record the oil pressure, and then disconnect the oil pressure gage, and then re install the oil sending unit, replace the start relay or fuel pump relay, and then start up the car, and check the oil sending unit , to make sure it is not leaking, if your oil pressure checks out within the specs, then you are fine, if it gives you a low reading, then you could have a bad oil sending unit , or a oil pump going bad on you. i would replace the sending unit first, then see what the gage shows.

2005 Dodge Dakota V8 4.7L, 4X4, engine light on, code P0452 . Where is the fuel pressure sensor located?

  1. The Fuel Level Sending Unit, or Fuel Level Sensor, is located in your gas tank with the Fuel Pump Module. The fuel gauge sending unit (fuel level sensor) is attached to the side of the fuel pump module. The sending unit consists of a float, an arm, and a variable resistor track (card).
  2. The Fuel Pressure Regulator is located within fuel pump module. The fuel pressure regulator controls fuel system pressure. The PCM cannot detect a clogged fuel pump inlet filter, clogged in-line fuel filter, or a pinched fuel supply or return line. However, these could result in a rich or lean condition causing the PCM to store an oxygen sensor or fuel system diagnostic trouble code.
Both of these sensors are connected with the Fuel Pump Module. Here is a diagram:

My 2003 kia sedona is shaking and shuts down fuel guage broken

SOUND LIKE FUEL PUMP GOING BAD.YOUR FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT IS ALSO GOING BAD ITS PART OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.FIRST HAVE CAR SCANNED TO SEE WHAT TROUBLE CODES IS.REPLACE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP RELAY FIRST THEY ARE CHEAPER ROUTE THEY COULD BE THE PROBLEM.BUT FUEL PUMP COST BETWEEN $300.00 TO $700.00 THAT WHY CHECK FILTER AND RELAY AND HAVE IT SCAN BEFORE BUYING ANY HIGH PRICE PARTS.IF FUEL PUMP GOOD I BELIEVE YOU CAN BUY FUEL SENDING UNIT SEPERATE DONT HAVE TO BUY WHOLE PUMP ASSEMBLY BUT CHECK AROUND SOME AUTO PARTS PLACES WILL MAKE YOU BUY THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY JUST TO FIX THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT.

Check engine

maybe a bad wire to sending unit, or a bad sending unit, the engine light may be related to the gauge problem, go to autozone have them scan the computer if the code has to do with the fuel level sender, then check the wiring if its good then replace the fuelpump asm, the asembly will come complete with a sender for gauge, when replacing make sure baffle is not floating around in tank.
