Black smoke out of exhaust? if so, piston rings or maybe valve or vavle seats. For piston rings, motor needs to be rebuilt. For valves, neads a valve job. Either way, big money.

What could be causing misfiring, billowing black smoke when revved and really bad gas mileage

Is your choke stuck on? The float in your carb could be stuck.
Black smoke means too much gas being burnt.
Make sure your air filter is clean. I saw a car that would not run because the air filter was plugged.

Constant black smoke whenever accelerator is used?

Too much gas going through the engine-that's why black smoke. That's all your unburned gas going out the exhaust. Have the fuel pressure tested. A failed pressure regulator will pull extra gas into the engine. Pull off the vacuum hose to the regulator. If any evidence of gas in the hose, the regulator's diaphragm has broken and sucking gas through the hose into intake.
If fuel pressure is correct, have a scan done for trouble codes.

I just bought a 1996 Geo Tracker at a auction (my last purchase for auto at auction) and I need help. its a 2 door 2 wheel drive automatic with 111,000 miles. First problem it has a little white smoke and...

the transmission problem could be an oil change and the shifting could be a vacuum hose or actuator problem
both fairly simple
white smoke normally indicates water ( head gasket, EGR valve problem) you will have to take it to an accredited service center for a closer diagnosis
But from your opening statement I would cut your losses and sell it while it still runs

My 96 sunfire 2.2 l auto idels rough and blows out black smoke when i rev up the motor. i also hesitates on the highwy

Black smoke is from too much fuel, or a mis-firing of the spark plug. Pull all plugs to look to see if one is blackened. If so, this is your troubled cylinder. You can test each spark plug wire with a High energy spark plug tester. If that looks OK, then do a compresion test to see if the mechanical part of the engine seems good.

1993 lumina euro is blowing black out of tailpipe smells gas

Black smoke is unburned gas. If the car is running fine besides the black smoke, it's most likely the Coolant Temperature Sensor. The part is roughly $20 and an easy fix.

PS- I'm guessing your check engine light is on...
