I noted the same problem when I pulled one of the 20Amp fuses out of the fuse block. Check your fuse box under the dash (driver's side) and locate the fuse for the speedometer/ dashboard gauges. Worth replacing ($2) as a check even if it looks like it's okay.

How do you get the gauges on the dashboard to work

Well the first thing i can say is that these clusters do have a bad failure rate , they do go often ,but lets start with the basics first. check the fuses all of them, there is a cluster fuse and i think it is labeled gauges, start with that first.

Not starting

Gets fire? So you checked for spark, and you had a good blue spark at the spark plug? And does the engine spin over at the normal rate of speed when you are trying to start it?
If there's a theft deterrent device on your van, some systems immobilize the fuel injector circuit, preventing the car from starting. Any possibility an alarm has been tripped?
The fuel pressure at the injectors needs to be "really high" for the injectors to work properly and for gas to enter the cylinders. Around 40 psi, check a manual for manufacturer's specs. The only way to know your fuel pressure for certain is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge tester to the test port on the fuel rail. Just turning the key on will prime the system and give you a high reading on the gauge, if the fuel pump and filter are good. Cheers.

Security alarm on so car won't start

24,
Try locking/unlocking the passenger door with the key into the door lock to reset the alarm system. If the passenger side doesn't work, then try the driver side. Good luck.

My car alarm will not reset and the issue with problems below

If you (hopefully) have the key fob (keyless entry remote), try closing the doors, then lock and unlock using the keyless entry. This should reset the security so the vehicle will start.

Odometer is not working

The output speed sensor maybe unpluged. Its the sensor on the side of the trans that is closest to the left tire. It will have 2 wires in the connector.

1998 town n country alarm/ start problems

This may or may not help. Hopefully it will. We recently purchased this 1998 chrysler town & country. Everything was working fine, started fine, etc. we took it to get emissions done.....passed emissions.. .made it home. i turned the car off to run inside for a minute. came back out car started.. ran for 3 seconds than died out. tried again... ran for 3 seconds than died out... after that it no longer would do anything. all the lights worked except in the ignition module. the top dashboard lights worked though. I then noticed that the "alarm set" light stayed lit. after replacing fuses and running an OBD test and found no trouble codes or issues with fuses it dawned on me it may be the alarm. after searching the internet for hours i found a forum that suggested unplugging the battery for about 5 minutes....rehook it and then try starting it again. well i tried doing that the first time using the REMOTE to unlock the doors and nothing happened. i locked the doors and repeated the same battery unhook-rehook process except without using the remote... (i noticed a lot of forums saying that the remotes can be deffective in that they somehow trigger the alarm if the transmitter is not working properly)... so after unhooking and rehooking the battery and using only the key to unlock it started right up! so i've decided to not use the remote at all and have had no other problems. let me know if this helps
