Can't get my new Nokia 6500 to connect to X5 bluetooth. Had no problem with any previous Nokia phones including 6300.

Not the BMW X5 (2004 model) but it will detect a parrot kit in the other car.

There's nothing to help on the Nokia web site and BMW only publish a compability list for the 2007 X5, mine is the previous model made in 2006

  • Lindgren Sep 17, 2008

Thanks. The phone connects to a Parrot bluetooth car kit and has the latest software. Looks as though the X5 is just incompatible which is odd as the phone is meant to has the same bluetooth software as the 6300, which worked OK.

  • Lindgren Sep 17, 2008

No, the phone and X5 don't detect each other when I try and activate the phone

  • Lindgren Sep 17, 2008

Thanks, will try that and revert.

Thanks, tried that but they still don't recognise each other

  • Lindgren Sep 19, 2008

Many thanks guys. Colleague suggested that I drove to a remote location and tried again - I did and it paired first time. Could have been some interference near my house or just finger trouble.

If this phoen wont connect to your X5 via bluetooth try to pair this Nokia phone to other bluetooth device and lets see if it will connect because if it still didn't connect so there's a problem with the software of your phone you may need to update or flash the softwrae of the phone...

Hope that helps...........

They are compatible with each other it just so happen that you may need to flash or update the softwae of the Nokia phone so they will be working fine...

first let us know if the phone detects the device or not.

i will tell you what to do next.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Sep 17, 2008

actually your phone is compatible with the head set. there must not be any problem as such.

u also told the head set has worked fine with your old phone.

    and hence your new phones blue tooth may have some problem;

see if the phone is able to detect any other blue tooth device other than your head set and is able to communicate with it.

only after you try this we can arrive at some conclusion.

    thank you

  • dewan nafees ahmed Sep 17, 2008

if the phone does not even detect then there is nothing that can be done i think.

Bluetooth connected to x5 but can't play music

You'll have to confirm this with BMW as we have a 650, 135, and X3 not an X5, but your car won't play iphone based music via bluetooth. It will sync contacts, make calls and some other things (particularly with the newer apps) but it won't play your music.

To play your music you have to have the package that allows you to connect your iphone via an iphone cable (usb at one end, iphone connector at the other - what you use to charge it). With this connected you can then see all your music and control your iphone through the screen on the dashoard.

I cannot paire any phone thrue bluetooth with my x5 BMW 2005

I know that 2004 BMWs used a Bluetooth protocol that is now obsolete. There are no longer any cell phones made that will pair with a 2004 BMW unless you get a very expensive upgrade to your Bluetooth module from BMW. Not worth it. When my wife got a new phone several years ago, she had to switch to aftermarket Bluetooth devices because as I recall, it was something like $2k to upgrade the Bluetooth in her '04 330i.
I was under the impression that 2005 BMWs use a more current Bluetooth communication protocol, but I don't know that for sure. If your car is an early 2005, I would suspect that perhaps it uses the same protocol as the '04s.

this sounds like it is a compatability problem ,, not all phones are compatable , you will need to check on the bmw website , where you can see what phones are suitable for your vehicle ,or you should contact your bmw dealer , regards mark

I've just bought a new Uni take and talk Nokia

there are two cradles available for the 6300, one has two connectors should work when you put the phone in the cradle and switch on the key, the other has one connector and is bluetooth, this requires pairing, you will need to search for bluetooth devices and pair using code 1234. The use of steering wheel controls is not possible with bury car kit. hope this helps. dan

Bluetooth problems BMW car and Nokia N97

I'm afraid I can't solve your problem, but you're already one step further than I am: I have a 2004 E60 (525d touring) and it won't pair at all, the N97 doesn't even SEE the car's bluetooth. And my previous Nokia E61i paired, but never transferred the contactlist.

Car should be under warranty. First stop is to the dealership. Sounds like sync software issue. You may need to wait until an update is available. Good luck.
