If my rear suspension air bags have all the air gone out of them and the compressor does not fill them because it is defective, can I still drive the car until I change the bags and the compressor? and for how long?

It can be very dangerous to drive the vehicle without the air bags as it will limit the handling and manuverability. The air ride systems can be very expensive to replace as individual components and especially in groups if more than one component started to fail (which happens regularly).. have you looked into considering a conversion kit at all? has a great conversion kit with a lifetime warranty. They are made in America and designed to last the lifetime of your vehicle. I only recommend them because I believe in their product and have had great experiences with their customer service.

You can still drive the car but you have limited rear shocks. I wouldn't do it for any longer than I had to. If money for replacement of the air shocks is a concern, there is a cheaper "regular" shock retrofit kit available.

Air suspension will not deflate

You need to find someone with a scan tool that can access the air suspension and manually cycle the individual springs to restore level. As a word of advise, turn the air suspension switch off, before you hoist the vehicle. This will prevent the compressor from inadvertently filling the air springs.

How long should it take for the self leveling rear suspension in a 2005 GMC Envoy XL Denali Edition to almost go empty. If i let the car sit overnight most of the air is gone and the rear is low, however...

The air suspension system should stay up for several days without going completely down, which probably means that you have a small leak which is quite common even on relatively new air bags or struts.

A general rule of thumb is that if the compressor isn't kicking on several times during a drive then they are good to go. The air bags are a pain to change, so most people don't change them until they are really bad.

2001 Navigator rear suspension sagging. While

It sounds like one of your air bags could have blown. I would check them first. I would also suggest checking into a replacement non air conversion kit from Strutmasters. I replaced the air system on my 2002 Navigator and saved a lot of time, money and headaches. The lines on my navigator had holes in them and I replaced the compressor twice before I realized it. Very costly. Avoid all the hassle and check out Strutmasters.

If your not too familiar with air-suspension, send it in. But I can tell you that the air-compressor will not last too much longer if it runs constantly.
You need to go underneath and find out where the air is coming from while the compressor is running. It is possibly coming from a defective proportioning valve, bad air-line or defective air-bag.

One of your rear bags has a pinhole in the rubber, therefore the pump is trying to compensate for the needed air.A easy was to diagnose a air leak in the system is to spray down the bags with glass cleaner and it will show you where the leak is.Id suggest that you replace the defective bag rather than convert it to standard suspension.

Why is my cadillac rear so low

You may have a leak in the rear air bags or the compressor for the air bags is not working, listen when you turn on the key to see if you can hear the compressor run ,if you do then likely the bags,if not then likely the compressor.

Suspension air compressor

If your compressor is running all the time, it is almost certain that you have a leak. It could be either in the lines going to the rear air bags, or the air bags themselves. Simplest way to find a leak, is to get a spray bottle with soapy water, make sure the suspension is aired up, and spray the lines starting from the compressor. Work all the way back to the bags, now when you get the bags nice and soapy then bounce the rear of the truck up and down. If their are any leaks the soapy water will bubble up showing you wear the leak it.
That is how i would start.

If its a bigger leak the rear air bags wont stay aired up, if its a small leak, then the air compressor will be running all the time to keep the truck aired up.

Remember, when you are driving, the compressor is constantly working to keep the rear bags at the proper height, even more so on rough roads.

The inflatrion air valves have probably gone bad. You can buy the valves seperate from the air bags but make sure your bags are in good shape. The air valves come (or did) with the new air bags. May be time to replace the rears with new. Hope this helps, please rate me high;
